    iDRV3 - New 3A Buck Driver

Hello foulmist, just wanted to say your driver is great. I got two of them from you some time ago and will use them with some 445nm 9mm diodes in my new build. The diodes will be driven separately but would like to know if the IDRV3 drivers can be driven in parallel too.

Drivers for 808nm lasers: where are they?

Two or more drivers used in parallel to get the necessary Amps for your diode., so you need some drivers that are capable in being used in parallel for such a setup. But about the battery... the voltage is way to low exept you can find a buck/boost driver that will work with such a low input...

    Real Lightsabers?

There is a picture of a prototype on the site Lazerbeak linked to. Didn´t you notice it? Here it is: LoL

Review of 200mW 532nm Module from Lightscastle

If I get it correctly from the pics this module is using a 5.6mm IR pump diode, so this can´t be neither a 200mW nor a 150mW module. All modules above 100mW are generally using 9mm 1W pump diodes. The small 5.6mm diodes are rated 500mW max. so at best efficiency you will get something in the...

Macro shots of ebay greenie modules

About the resistor itself you are right but must also take into account there is no heat transfer inside a host and the air surrounding the driver and the resistor acts like a isulator. Therefore they are mostly using 0.5W shunt resistors, which still are getting pretty hot. So driving them...

Macro shots of ebay greenie modules

Ahh ok. Didn´t care about the "R" :) But well. The wattage of the shunt will be still to small for about 400mA and this current would probably also kill a 300mW 808nm diode as well.

Macro shots of ebay greenie modules

This is way to much for a 5mW greenie and for the small R4 shunt resistor as well. My 100mW greenie is driven at 450mA and my shunt resistor is huge compared to this one but is getting damn hot at this current. However this shunt resistor has 33 Ohm. In my greenies they are way lower rated. So...

    Short review: Wallbuys "2000mW" 450nm

Agree, but Paypal also forced DealExtreme and other companies to not to sell lasers over 5mW. Just they anyway found a way how to sell their lasers via Paypal payment, so the point you made before is also legit. If there is a willing to sell this laser they would find a way for Paypal accepting...

    Short review: Wallbuys "2000mW" 450nm

A bread knife can be dangerous too and a letter opener can be used as a weapon as well. Sorry for being off topic, but am getting nuts when hearing such statements. Noone care if someone is buying an arm long bread knife. Neither paypal nor the customs, but everyone cares about what someone...

    laser damage

Hm well the headaches after looking into a strong light source can be normal. I´m getting this too sometimes when looking into strong light sources. But a laser hit will not cause all the other side effects. In worst case your retina gets demaged and you will see a blind point, but this will...

    Laser Output power and safety

Well Jerry, I think they will remove them if someone reports such laserpointers just to officialy show they are having a clean slate. You could be of course someone who is icognito testing them. So to avoid trouble they will of course remove such listings, but as long noone notices it they will...

    Laser Output power and safety

They will not, as they would have already done it. Ebay and Paypal sill wouldn´t care about the power because a limitation reduces their profit. They just limited it to laserpointers because there was some pressure from all the countries where stronger lasers are not allowed or whished to be...

    Laser Output power and safety

No problem :) For me it was also the host I was interested in. The only way to reduce the power would be to disassemble it and to reduce the current draw. Else keep it as it is, but threat it like it would be a weapon. Don´t shine it at plains nor at people and care about their reactions...

    Laser Output power and safety

On ebay all laserpointers above 5mW are banned, but if you look at the pics in the offer, there is a laserbeam lightening a match. So this is a typical trick saying it´s just a 5mW laser whereas the pictures are telling the real truth. So well, just in case you want to get rid of this laser...

    Laser Output power and safety

Just take a look at Jerrys links in his signature. There are also prices for his LaserBee LPMs. Your laser probably will be somwhere in the range between 50 and 150mW. Hard to say, but assuming it´s focused to infinity, not lighting european matches but hurting your skin, I would say somwhere...

    Short review: Wallbuys "2000mW" 450nm

Looks like they are just looking for a lame excuse. It´s always the same with these sites. You must be one of the first lucky ones, but now they got their reviews they don´t care anymore. However the laser is really cheap and maybe can be even tweaked to output 1W by replacing the driver.

Hm, the link in the first post is still working for me, but if I do a search, I only find this one: 1000mW Waterproof Focusable Blue Laser Pointer ? Titanium Grey

    Question about PC PSU

You are right and I´m not ignoring ogm´s law, just gave this as an simple example for better understanding. This is just hypothetical what you would get by feeding the resistor with a constant voltage and constant current source. But regarding ohm´s law you are of course right. Here you are...

    Question about PC PSU

I think you should study a bit more about LM317 and LM 338 regulators. The voltage between ADJ and OUT remains always the same, which is 1,25V. So to calculate the wattage over the resistors you have to use this voltage. So lets say the 200 Ohm pot is turned to be 200 Ohm. Together with the...

    Question about PC PSU

It´s legit for both. Using in parallel and serial. Wattage is always U*I. So lets say you are feeding a 1Ohm resistor with 1A at 5V. This will result in 5W for the resistor. Now let´s say you are feeding two 1 ohm resistors in series at 5V with 1 A. This will result in 1 A passing both but the...
