That's aixiZ new lens, 400-455 is the approximate wavelenght range of the AR coating. Didn't you know? AixiZ announced them just before the 4th of July. Hakzaw1 as been selling them, I got mine about two weeks ago :D

Got mine today... I started by testing the SKU 42745, the 900mA one. Unfortunately, something is going on, the laser flashes, about twice per second, it is not a continuous emission. The emission has an average of 89mW (using Kenom's meter :yh:) I will check the actual voltage and current...

Got mine todayt too. Same thing, wrapped in some cheap foam, no real protection at all, but in my case I just ordered one... hopefully is functional :undecided:

Yeap... that is how I got into lasers. I built my first HeNe back in 1973, the sensation one gets when the first beam appears, is indescribable, that thin 632.8nm red-orange straight beam coming from what you built was so impressive. I am guessing it was <5mW. Later I bought one from Edmund...

I second it, it should show the multiple peaks (multimode mode) and that is not a "pure" laser, a laser with a single wavelength.

Since you will be taking that laser to the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratories, the test I would love to see confirmed is related with the single mode at 224mA (about 54mW) and around 400mA (about 200mW): 445nm diode info 445nm laser diode W’s Laserblog 100mW+ single mode external cavity...

Well, yes, it will burn through tin foil, in a way, a 455nm at around 900mW will go incredible fast through a Hersey's new foil wrapper and start melting the chocolate and then burn it. Yes too to boiling water, also, in a way. Get a glass of water, focus the beam at the top of the water...

I may be interested, what do you have in mind? :D 96% efficient? That sounds interesting.
