    Best 18650 batteries on DealExtreme?

There's a short term cost or a long term cost. You can reduce the short term cost by buying cheaper non-rechargeable batteries, but ultimately it has a higher long term cost. Figure a normal 18650 non-rechargeable lasts you about 2.5 hours but only costs you say $6. In less than half a day...

    Best 18650 batteries on DealExtreme?

Well... there shouldn't be that many options for the 18650 batteries. 1. Protected 2. Unprotected You usually want to get the protected batteries. 1. 2600mha 2. 3000mha The mha rating simply determines how long the battery will last. Generally speaking the higher the mha the longer it will...

    Best 18650 batteries on DealExtreme?

There are several good brands, though i believe the AW are generally considered the best... 1. AW 2. Tenergy 3. Ultrafire Any one of the above brands should work fine.

Do I destroy the CCD in the camera if i shine directly in to it?

Ya, using goggles or something similar will block the beam so you only see the dot. But i'm not sure taking a shot without a lense will be any better, as you will see the flare up of the laser just before you fry your CCD :).

1.6W Peak 445nm SS 18650 Jayrob host W/'custom 'Hot' option' heatsink on driver

Just finished building my SS 18650 and love it. Nice looking host, relatively small. I have it set at roughly 1w and I can feel the heatsink start to heat up after using it for about 60 seconds or so. Not terribly hot, but starts to get a little warm. Overall I'd say it's a great kit. Screwing...

Do I destroy the CCD in the camera if i shine directly in to it?

Depends on the camera and the power. But yes shining a laser directly into your camera absolutely has the possibility of destroying your CCD. In order to take pictures of your laser a common practice is to cover your lense with a spare set of safety goggles. Some members have obtained the same...

Sorry for some reason I thought he was referring to the OP. I agree, posting just smiley's is pointless.

    Motorcycle mounted safety lasers

Being visible on your bike is more about movement than brightness. The night rider strip or any other type of LED system that makes visible movement is what will most likely make you stand out to other drivers. A laser system isn't going to help you any more than an LED system and has potential...

How does this Guy do this?

I think that pretty much covers most of it. The stuff done with the projector could have been an adaption of the laser harp as well. If you can detect certain strands being broken in order to play certain notes, there's no reason you couldn't simply adapt that for different commands instead of...

    Want a laugh??

The point was that he thought it was funny and thought he'd share it with us. This is in the general section so it's in the right place, nothing wrong with it.

Video: 1 Watt Pocket Blue Laser Beam from Eiffel Tower

I think the point being made here, is that while what you did was most likely not harmful, it still had the potential to damage someone else's vision either temporarily or permanently. It doesn't matter how small this chance is, it is unreasonable to force that on some random strangers without...

    rayfoss bullshitting me??

There are really only two major differences you will see in the battery setup... 1. Two CR123 batteries will generate a slightly higher voltage 2. The 18650 battery will last much longer. As for which laser is better it really depends on the setup. I think Daguin pretty much hit it on the head...

Introducing Radiant Electronics and the Radiant Alpha Power Meter

I'm definately interested in a $100 LPM as well once we get some data on it. Been looking at laserbee's, but $300 is a lot for something that is rarely going to be used.

Review of the Wicked Lasers Arctic G2

I like the review I think it has a lot of useful info. Ultimately I disagree with his 5 star rating at the end, however, he gave enough info for me to make my own decision and not have to rely on his rating without any additional info. I agree with Tech's initial assessment that there was a lot...

How is the Law in the US?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on any points here. Here is my understanding of the law in the US (I am by no means an expert lol). 1. You cannot legally import a laser pointer that is greater than 5mw. 2. It is not illegal to own a laser pointer greater than 5mw, only to import it. 3...

WTS: Yobresal 1.2W 445nm Laser SELLING**********

That's kinda like sitting in front of Radio Shack selling elctronics. Frankly I hope no one buys from you in here. If you wish to sell your laser please make your own thread instead of hijacking other peoples for sale threads, that's just very rude and inconsiderate especially doing it to the...

    Laser Goggles Slightly Exaggerated?

Well... it's all in the details. First of all, based on your description I would still guess it is entirely possible you are causing permanent damage if you are seeing problems with your vision. The fact that these changes in vision dissapear in no way actually means they are not doing damage...

    Laser Goggles Slightly Exaggerated?

Consider it like looking directly at a Solar Eclipse. We all know that the sun has the potential to damage your eyes if you stare directly at it for any length of time. If you attempt to do this normally your body will automatically react causing you to blink regularly and eventually look away...
