my first murder > poor A140

I've always purchased mine from Daguin here. They're more expensive but I know they're handled and packaged properly.

    Harbor Freight 7" x 10" Mini Lathe

Cheapest I am seeing at the moment is the $499 though I do see that several places.

How is the Law in the US?

You're kind of contradicting yourself there. The laser he mentioned was 240mw, so it is over the 5mw limit. To answer his question it depends on 'how' it is imported. There are many ways around the import issues, WL is having significant issues due to the high publicity but most other companies...

    Wicked Lasers ???

Guess it depends on your definition of a scammer. I consider them a scammer as do many others, but technically speaking they will eventually deliver the laser, but you may be waiting many months to get it. I ended up cancelling my order with them after 3 months of waiting and I have to say that...

    2.147W Flaminpyro SS-032 Dual Flexdrive

No no, that comment was in reference to pushing the duty cycle, not increasing the power :). I generally play it pretty safe on overheating so there is most certainly room above the numbers I stated, but I would expect a normal duty cycle to follow somewhere around those numbers in this host.

    2.147W Flaminpyro SS-032 Dual Flexdrive

Very short I'm sure. I use the same host (SS18650 build by jayrob) and running it at only 900mA it still heats up relatively quickly (ie 30-60seconds or so). So at double that power... it would heat up pretty darn fast. But in all fairness I rarely have need to actually run my laser very long at...

If you don't have a heatgun, READ THIS!!!

Most people just use their soldering iron, personally I just use matches (little easier to control than a lighter). They really don't need all that much heat to shrink, I wonder if a hairdryer would get hot enough to do it?

    Ok who did it?!

    There will now :)

    ISO experienced laser builder

Just order a kit from Jayrob with the hotoption and pickup a diode. You literally press the diode in and solder two wires and you're good to go. It's really not all that hard to do. I was a little nervous about my first one but after having done it, it really is nothing at all.

All the stuff your local police confiscated from you.

"To Serve and Protect" I gotta say whenever I see a Police Office, I never feel like I am being served nor do I ever feel like they are there to protect me. I do however feel like they are there to harrass me regularly, and when seconds count I know they are at least minutes away. I just...

Who sells Laser builds. Looking for Powerful handheld

Oh sure, send him to the worst possible laser company, that's real helpful. @op Give us some more details on what exactly you're after or what you intend to do with it. Also if you are looking for any specific colors or just for burning power. The 445nm(blue) are the best bet atm for burning...

What type of computer geek are you?

Sure Linux is probably faster, but that's kinda like running DOS on a PC. DOS would be screaming fast, the whole point of windows and why it gets more and more bloated is because of the additional features and support. I agree that they need to limit this to some extent but I also wouldn't...

    A message from our company

Really shouldn't ever refer to them as anything else. The A140 designation tells us everything we need to know about the Diode. Casio Diode - Gives us none of the critical information, this description is not accurate nor helpful, no reason to ever use this. First of all it's not a casio...

    A message from our company

Agreed, no way this post came from any PR department, I call it out as a fake. Doesn't mean the post doesn't have value, but no way is that real. Here are a few of the key parts that you would never hear come out of a PR department of any kind... - "we cannot risk lawsuits filed by those...

took my 445 on a plane

When asked what it was I'd just say... "I dunno, I wonder how that got in there!" :lasergun:

    We've all done it...

No, didn't bother trying to power it up, for that matter it's still sitting in the Aixiz module lol. I broke it and still didn't even get it out (gave up after hearing it crack). So it may very well still work, I suspect I only cracked the glass cause I stopped the second I heard it, but I...

Spyrorocks (brad) potentially join mod team

This was just how "I" defined a vendor in relation to LPF and general laser products, this is not necessarily meant to be an accurate definition for all vendors. The real key difference is that Dave is in no way emotionally or financially tied to the product he is working with. He has nothing...

now now, that's not true at all, I recall seeing a comercial on page one of this thread about carving a pumpkin :).
