you all are right of course! i more or less meant that now, with the 8x diodes, it is the first time we solely rely on working drives as a source. in the other cases we used both, sleds and drives (first?), so it now would be difficult to find out if drives' diodes all are consistent and...

yesterday i read some post about 635nm diodes and cooling them.. i have those 7mw rated diodes, they go up to 20mW. they will lase at a higher wavelength by then, which kinda makes the whole idea useless.. how about cooling the diode with a TEC? with 2.5V and 80mA the diode generates less than...
