If you went the laser route, it would be helpful to know what nanometer range a dogs eyes would be most sensitive to. Even defocused you probably would want to keep it under 20mW, this is just a guess though...

I always thought it would be cool to try and devise some kind of additional optics beyond the OC on those SSY-1s. The idea of being able to concentrate the beam, at range, is very appealing! :evil:

^^^ A home built flowing gas design would be totally DIY, but considering how nice ( and affordable ) those sealed tubes are these days, It's very hard to go wrong with them!! :gj:
