    Gah, failed LM1117 qgain! Help?

Well, don't connect out and adj right at the pins. You should connect them after the resistors, and then connect the load at the adj pin. ETA: It looks like you have ground/- connected to the regulator +in, that would make a short circuit. You don't need ground for the regulator.

Netherlands: shining a laser at a plane will be a crime

Overlapping legislation is nothing new. Maybe the purpose simply is to emphasise the point about pilots really not liking being blinded by lasers when near the ground. Fine with me.

    Random Question

You size and shape limitations does not really match a green module. Perhaps you should try get hold of a 5mW red module and mount it in one of those flat led lights intended to be stuck to a surface with double adhesive tape.

    Quick Curiousity Question

twhite828, :D Yes, surgeons are not always the most technical types. But it does remind me of a bridge offices telling about his tour at a hospital (they are supposed to be the ships doctors.) He asked a surgeon what the big difference was between the surgeons handheld drill for bones and the...

    Hello

    Welcome to the forum. :)

    is Charlie Sheen "Winning"?

It sounds great to go on vacation with the wife and two 20-year porn stars. :) The cocaine sounds more risky, at least he looks like a good reason not to overdo it. You know, the wild eyed megalomania thing.

    Quick Curiousity Question

It was likely a CO2 laser, the wavelength (10.000-some nm) does not penetrate the eye, and does therefore not get focused by the lens onto the retina. A reflection could still burn the corona badly so I don't understand why he would not wear something, like a cheap pair of clear plastic...

    what laser is this??

In order to identify a diode you have to know where it comes from, then you can check the relevant datasheet or forum post to seen the correct + and - pins. You are going to need the datasheet anyway to know how many mA to give it. To see if one is burned off you can try the diode check setting...

[feeler] $7 tiny HeNe bare tube

It sounds very interesting, particularly if cost plus shipping could be held below the Danish custom limit of app. $14. I would want several packages.

    what laser is this??

Then you have a problem, this is a quite expensive hobby. Also, when you write on a forum, you should take more care with your spelling. People are less likely to respond to a poorly written post. I assume you have a full keyboard and are not using a phone?

    what laser is this??

It looks like you have an IR diode, it does not get any brighter.

    what laser is this??

I have not seen that type before, and it looks broken to me. What is the resistance between each leg? Does your meter have a diode setting? What colour was the laser?

Linear drivers w/ wirewound resistors - the problem?

I agree. A DDL driver gives pure DC so there should be no problem, the KHz/Mhz pulsed DC from a buck/boost would likely give problems.

    what laser is this??

It looks like it doesn't really matter any more. The "try them all" approach have burned/melted the small wires that is supposed to connect the centre bit to the legs. Can you tell if there have been a leg on the left, maybe broken off during dismantling?

    Crazy Host!!!?????

I have one, from Priceangles. It takes a P60 dropin and I have replaced the stock one with a red single mode drop-in I had lying around. It looks pretty cool, but will be even better with a 600lm red LED and some optics to give a narrow beam. :D

4W Blue Diode Coming! Single Mode Too !!

But hopefully in a smaller and cheaper projector. At $200 I would likely end up with just one of each.

    OEM lasers in 26.5mm modules?

I doubt that cobber tape would give a good enough fit. At least compared to a heatsink that is machined to fit. And yes, the answers here have shown me why the idea a p60 laser dropin is not used.

Bought M8 lenses by accident - any use?

You could gut a green module and install a 445nm instead of the IR one. :D

4W Blue Diode Coming! Single Mode Too !!

You have a point there. :(

Bought M8 lenses by accident - any use?

I wonder if the rather long tread of some green modules would enable one to turn it into some kind of beam expander by using two lenses?
