    power - 3.0v - 3.7v OR 3.7v - 4.2v / battery

Neither module is 'better' than the other. They're just designed to be used with different power sources. The 3v driver is designed to be used with 2x 1.5v batteries (AA, AAA, etc) while the 3.7v driver is designed to be used with a single li-ion battery. If you try to run a 3v driver off a...

Inexpensive, decent correction for 300mW Mitsubishi 635nm laser @ 94% transmission

I honestly wouldn't dally long.. however, the only real use for these would be people building projectors... Of which there aren't many of here. So I doubt they'll vanish 'over night' unless someone posts it over at PL too. heh.

Issue resolved. Max from lazerer.com has gone above and beyond to help me.

Re: Long processing time for lazerer order They might not be in stock if they had a lot of orders.. Plus they do stuff like LPM them, etc, so that takes more time than just 'throwing it in a box'.. And if they had 500 orders.. well, unboxing, Putting them on an LPM, getting the power plot...

Inexpensive, decent correction for 300mW Mitsubishi 635nm laser @ 94% transmission

Well I ordered two sets. Yay more projects! heh.

    Biological reasons for color perception

I think this is likely one of those questions that there really isn't a good easy answer too. It's like "why do cat's have tails?" It just boils down to evolution.

Re: Long processing time for lazerer order No necessarily. I ordered some 450nm pens from laserlands this past weekend (their website, not ebay auctions) Took them 3 days to get the order shipped.. Though what amazed me is I paid for the expedited shipping, and that's actually what they...

Just bought a module.. Now what?

The buttons really not a big deal. You can either remove them totally and solder on a jumper, or just use a piece of wire to jumper the switch without removing it. FYI. if you have a 3V module, and want to use it with a 3.6v Li-Ion, your 'jumper' can be a diode, which will drop the voltage the...

    Soldering iron

I use one of these for my 'general' soldering. TEMP CONTROLLED SOLDER STATION SOLDERING IRON NEW | eBay Though mine is a solomon SL-20 instead of a tenma.. Which just means it's white instead of gray. :p They're both weller knock offs, I believe.

ALERT: Bad Selling Experience with "Electron"

I don't think the mods have any control over the ad's. That's purely cold's domain I believe.

    I finally have a lathe

It really depends on your lathe, the tooling used, your feed speeds and cutting depth, etc.. Most lathes hobbyists have access too aren't 5HP+ beasts that don't care what your doing with them and using exotic tooling.. Most are dealing with low HP lathes and using normal HSS cutters that may...

    Machining question.

Yeah I make my own tooling so i've done similar. Though if I can just use tailstock mounted endmill and just plunge it and be done with it.. Well. That will make things easier and less tedious heh. And I have an atlas 618 6" lathe.

    Machining question.

Thanks. Though a .6mm undercut sounds kind of excessive to me, but I guess it just depends on the accuracy of the endmill and my lathe. Always better to remove too little material than too much. heh.

Just bought a module.. Now what?

He doesn't need a newwish type host since he already stated his module doesn't have a button on the driver so he'll need a host with an end clicky instead. 'Generally' (but not always) these are 11.9 or 12mm, and will work in heatsinks made for aixiz modules, but due to the length, you either...

    Good laser book?

'lasers' is really too specific a topic to find 'books' on. At least not related to 'building a pointer'. What you need to look for are books on power supply and DC-DC converter design and theory. Since outside of driver design, at least with diode lasers.. the rest comes down to machining...

Sneak Peak / Tease - The "Zero DC" 635nm Build

Yeah I keep the original drivers. Even eliminating them I don't think there'd be enough room for a 10440, so the only thing gained would be more expense.

Sneak Peak / Tease - The "Zero DC" 635nm Build

I don't remember on that one. It was a module out of a pen I ripped apart.. I have two more to make using '100mW' DX modules but they'll be turned down to 20-25mW after IR filtering. They have to be turned down to a smaller diameter though to fit in the MXDL hosts.. Plus.. it also requires...

Sneak Peak / Tease - The "Zero DC" 635nm Build

Hmm if your only getting minute long run times it's drawing a lot more than 400mA I think. My little 50mW micro green will run about an hour on a charge on a 10280 and it draws around 300mA

Qumefox's FOR SALE thread. Hosts, lenses, etc.

Probably since I doubt the problem is 'limited to DX' and pretty much all the other sites are dropshippers just like DX that don't actually keep inventory. More than likely there's an issue upstream, probably with Sipik themselves.. Who knows. Maybe they vanished like lots of chinese companies...

I saw that. I emailed them and asked, I was told out of stock too.

Qumefox's FOR SALE thread. Hosts, lenses, etc.

DX still says they have no clue when they'll get these in, so there's a good chance there won't be any of the 'sipiks' If I have to switch to the tank007 version, there will be a price increase due to the hosts costing 3x as much.
