I've soldered to a few batteries. And so far, no issues. I'll put some flux on the tab before trying to solder. It usually goes on pretty quick that way.

Nice shots Crazlaser! I have the same camera, but haven't actually tried it for beam shots. Are you just using the 18-55mm lens that came with it, or did you buy a different Lens? When I got mine it was the body only. So I decided to go for a high dollar 17-85mm lens.

Depending on where you're located, there are a few people on here that may lend you a hand repairing it. If you don't feel like you can do it yourself that is. It seems silly to let that expensive laser go to waste for a bad switch.

That'll most likely be for a 12mm module. But it's still a big chunk of copper either way. If you didn't use the copper pill that's already in that MX900 host, you can make one of the 25mm ones work. Although I don't know how much modification that'd require.

The only drivers that I know of right now where you can add an external trim pot to, is those BlackBuck 8M drivers. Unfortunately, they are for high power diodes, and have a range of like 1-8A.

Do you mean dot, or beam visibility? A single mode red beam isn't very bright. I can see my 250mw one, but it fails in comparison to a low power green. I also have a muti-mode red, and the divergence is actually pretty bad. It pretty much looks like a bar line on the wall. No where near a dot.

Just know that red diodes tend to be open can. So for a first build, that adds another aspect to potential failure. That being said, if you wanted to do a lower power build, you can practice with something like a LPC-826, which can be had for only a few bucks per diode.

Re: 462nm/ THOR 2/ 18350 cells for Sale.. On a side note... I tried using 16340s in a 501b, but thought they were too sloppy. Length wise was fine, but too much side to side play for my liking. So I made a few sleeves out of aluminum conduit to fit those batteries nicely!
