My Newly bought Spartan for less than a month died

In your first post you said you used 3.7V batteries. Doesn't the Spartan require 3.0V batteries, not 3.7V as you have used? That would be cause for failure, customer error. You later claimed in your email to DL that you were using 3.0V batteries, which was it?

Care and feeding of your Arctic beast

The O-like or the Aixiz lens give you as much distance of any lens you can use. On my G1, I just use the low power cap with the glass removed. On an old model like yours, it's not glued and it should just unscrew. I don't know if the standard high power lens comes with the lens kits Wicked...

    Super Beast Green

I can confirm you can use 3.7V batteries. I wired up a 18650 battery fully charged to 4.2V. Worked fine. The output varies wildly using the Tenergy 3V. When first started with a fully charged battery, it jumps up to incredible power. But it quickly drops back quickly as it heats up. I...

How do I fix my Arctic?

You have an old style lens. You can improve the output with a nice beam profile using an Aixiz 405/445 coated lens, or an O-like 405/445 lens. I actually use the O-like in mine, it gives me a little more power than the Aixiz. You can get it here. Or if you really want the max power with a...

    Lasers vs Airplanes on ABC

You know how oncoming high beams glare on a car windshield? It's not just the light, but the glare on the glass that it causes that makes it so bad. Here is an image from a laser glare on a camera lens. Same effect: Either in a car or an airplane, this is not good.

Arctic Spyder III safety pin problem

I would take off the shunt plug and check it. Be very gentle with those little 2mm screws! Photo from Awesome Lasers: Sometime the copper contacts are dirty and can be cleaned. Also work the pin in and out a few times to see if you can restore contact, maybe try a little contact cleaner for...

Confused about batteries for Spartan 1W

When I read 3.6v cutoff, I just assumed they were protected. Thanks for pointing that out to me. :) LiFePO4 Li-Ion Batteries * Rechargeable LiFePO4 RCR123A 3.0V 750mAhBattery * Life cycle: 1000 times (Traditional Li-ion: 500 times) * Will never explode or catch fire * Working...

Confused about batteries for Spartan 1W

I just got those 3.0V Tenergy batteries with the dedicated Tenergy battery. The batteries claim to be PCB protected to 3.6V and the working voltage is 3.2V If the 3.2's charge up to the same point, they shouldn't be a problem.

    Super Beast Green

My Tenergy 3V 750mAh LiPo came in today. Using the dedicated Tenergy smart charger, the batteries tested at 3.82V after charging. Anyway, popped it in the Beast. Would you believe 95mW peak? No mods, just waaaay overspec. Settled down around 75mW after the first 30 seconds. Didn't run it...

Wicked Lasers products not FDA approved

Let's not go overboard. I measured the WL googles, read the G2 review in my sig. They let through about 2.5% of the beam on high power - 18mW. On lower power mode the Arctic puts out about 150mW. 2.5% is 3.75mW, hardly going to damage anyones eyes. At 18mW someone would have to point the...
