    Laser "microscope"

Of course I know that 650nm isn't a measurement of frequency. wow. It was what the guy said in the video, hence the ":P" at the end of my post.

    Laser "microscope"

Yeah, they're pretty close to the images I was seeing. And the same drop of water idea too. Damn, now I want a laser with a frequency of 650nm. :P

    Laser "microscope"

Well, common bacteria range in size up to about 10µm long, the largest being something like 750µm. Although those sizes seem tiny, when you think that 10µm is a hundredth of a millimeter, it's not as small as you first think.

    The StridAst Silver 10440 Host

Not really correct, most of the energy going into the laser diode comes out as heat. With these blue diodes, they're around 25% efficient, as in only 25% of the power going into the diodes is coming out as light, the other 75% is heat.

    Laser "microscope"

This is what I did: I used a 30mW green to do it, projected onto a white screen about 5m away. The reason I think it is in those locations is because the particles and the bacteria that you see on the screen seem to get larger and smaller as they move, implying moving closer or further away...

    Laser "microscope"

Last time I checked, dust particles in water don't have flagella. :p And yeah, there would be plenty of bacteria in stagnant pond water.

    Laser "microscope"

If you suspend a drop of pond water (like hanging from an eyedropper) and direct a beam of light through the spherical section so it's enlarged and projected onto a screen, you can see bacteria moving around inside the drop. Fun experiment.

    Turret Lab Mount diy

Instead of two in parallel, buy a LM317K, which is the same device, but in a TO-3 package, they handle heat a lot better than TO-220.

    Turret Lab Mount diy

445nm build, I assume.... Can I just say that you're kind of messing with the purpose of a labby here. Labbies lasing only parallel to an optic bench is important for safety, as beams stay can't be thrown up from the bench. I'm not sure your purpose here, but just be careful.

DIY Thermal LPM for under $50

Actually, the ambient temperature doesn't matter. The laser in this case isn't heating the front plate to a stable temperature above ambient, it is applying power, implying a constant rise of the temperature. The temperature difference you're measuring is the thermal resistance of the junctions...

    What type of keyboard?

Mhm, that's the code I based mine off. I would avoid using the windows dvorak layout though, like I said before, the shortcuts like CTRL-C are in annoying places.

    What type of keyboard?

It's of my modified layout, like I described above... Do you want the .exe or the script?

    What type of keyboard?

It's very easy to retain, if you keep typing on it. A friend and I switched at the same time, but he desperately didn't want to loose QWERTY, so he kept typing with QWERTY. He kept his QWERTY speed, and almost matched it with Dvorak. I made a complete switch though, all the keyboards in my life...

    What type of keyboard?

Surprising amount of Dvorak here. I switched about a year ago, my wrists have loved me ever since. I use a custom layout, those who use dvorak will understand my changes: QJKX all shifted left one space, and the ; moved to the middle. It helps keep the hands at the right slope. For example...

    heating copper with laser diode

I was typing intermittently, I didn't see yours until I posted. And anyway, my calculations were better. :p

    heating copper with laser diode

First off, is there any problem with a normal heating element? Converting electrical energy directly into thermal energy. But I'll assume you want to use the laser because you can heat without contact (even though you said it wouldn't matter if it was in contact) Some out loud calculations...

    Wtb: Flexmod

He's developing the next generation at the moment. It should be out soon, as far as I can tell from his wording on PL.

CNI 400mW green labby tested at >600mW average

Laser arrived in very good condition. Shipped fast after payment. Thanks!

FS: Night Vision goggles from MW2

I can vouch for climbak. Had a very successful deal with him recently. Answers all questions, fast shipment after payment.

WTB: LOC or LCC red diodes

As far as I know, glen still has LPC diodes available. http://laserpointerforums.com/f55/sleds-gb-great-prices-get-ggw-42043.html
