is my 445nm diode OK?? beamshots attached

I'll use a CO2 air duster to try to clean that. Is the dust on the lens or the diode? Using a CO2 duster should be safe right? Thanks.

is my 445nm diode OK?? beamshots attached

just to add... the drive is drawing 1.45A from the battery and has a voltage drop of circa 7.2v. Once again, these are the input to the driver not the output. Cheers.

is my 445nm diode OK?? beamshots attached

I should add... if these shots are suitable, please let me know what type of beam shot you would like me to take. Thank you.

is my 445nm diode OK?? beamshots attached

Hi all, Here are some beamshots of my new 9mm 445nm Nichia diode. < 3W. The lens used is the 405 G-2 lens. Could you guys please take a quick look at let me know what you think? Thanks :)

    is my IR diode dead???

Well yes I'm very sure it was dead all along. My first beamshot was taken immediately after hooking the diode up when I after I pulled it out of the package that it came in. I've started building lasers over 5 years ago and have a couple of other completed ones. I've also built various other...

    is my IR diode dead???

    Thanks. I'll ask for a Refund/Replacement now

    is my IR diode dead???

Hi guys, More pics uploaded below. This time the lens has been removed. This time I've shined the beam against a plain black tissue paper. Verdicts please. Thank you.

    is my IR diode dead???

Ok so the diode is dead right? I'm supplying the right amount of Amps to it. Thanks.

    is my IR diode dead???

Hello hello, I've got breaking news!! I've FINALLY received the module and so I went ahead to press the diode in with some heatsink compound as well. The diode went in quite easily so I'm sure it's removable. Now for the sad part, I'm unable to burn anything with this diode even when the beam...

    is my IR diode dead???

no I haven't got any single coloured surface in my flat so I can't do this unfortunately. I think the diode is OK. I'm just waiting for the module now.

    is my IR diode dead???

    Yes yes ok... thanks :)

    is my IR diode dead???

Eudaimonium, Thanks and yes I'm aware of the risks of a lose connection therefore I always make sure my clips and contact points have a positive connection prior to doing anything, and I am very careful not to move the entire assembly when the power is turned on. Thanks again :)

    help with 808nm

Yes these are very common now. Drive them at < 1.2A their voltage drop should be around 2.1v All the best!

    is my IR diode dead???

now now ladies... stop fighting over me :D c'mon both of you have mentioned very valid points. thanks for all your help and advice.

    is my IR diode dead???

Yes unfortunately I haven't got the right tools to press a diode out of the module so I need to make sure it works before pressing it in.

    is my IR diode dead???

Cyparagon: I'm not ignoring anyone's advice, what I'm doing now is I'm only keeping it on for 0.5seconds at a time, just enough to hit the shutter button on my phone. I then wait a while and make sure the diode is back to room temp before taking a second shot. I doubt pressing it into a module...

    is my IR diode dead???

Thanks Jerry, I'm at work now. I might do this later.

    is my IR diode dead???

Hi again guys, I've taken out the primary 1000mW - 1500mW diode for a brief test. Here are some beamshots directly from the diode without any lens/module. Is this diode OK?? Thanks.

opinion on this LM2596 based driver

I thought so too but I've seen similar spec sheets for both the diodes and the V / A draw are indeed identical :S Thanks anyway.

opinion on this LM2596 based driver

ok thanks. yeah thankfully I learned this the cheap way as this was a free diode :). The main one is rated at < 1500mW but draws the same Amps and Volts as this one. Anyone knows how this is possible? i.e. same power draw but puts out 15x more output? Thanks.
