Strange behavior of the red laser

HA, your skin is thin enough to consider "doubtful" to be rude? Fucking welcome to the internet, buddy. You'll do very poorly here. Was your diode damaged by COD - specifically back-reflection type? If so, I may stand corrected, although this isn't a very impressive sample size.

    Home laser ablation

My analogy stands. The absence of training is a major concern you've glossed over. OP: "hey, I need to remove my appendix. Can I use this weed whacker to cut my abdomen open?" trussmonkey: "no, you should use a scalpel. Good luck!"

Converting Spectra Physics ZLM Laser Head to 532NM (Part 1, ruined my FAP edition)

Sorry for the laser equivalent of "did you remember to plug it in", but did you thoroughly clean the fiber ends? A few specs of dust is enough to ruin your day at these power levels.

Strange behavior of the red laser

To be clear, I DO agree this is COD. I do NOT agree that it is an easily visible fault. Yes, technically, all electrical faults are just mechanical faults. Yes, ESD damage is visible with an electron microscope following a week bath in an epoxy solvent. However, It doesn't mean you can "see...

    Home laser ablation

I suppose you think picking up a scalpel makes you a surgeon as well? Don't make me laugh.

    Multiple beams

Zoom in on your converging point and draw the rays again. I think you'll find you've made several mistakes.

Strange behavior of the red laser

Doubtful, considering the active emitter area is about 1x2 micron, which is ~20 times smaller than a human hair.

    Feedback on Laser Video

It's not that binary, gazer. To say 740nm is visible, but 741nm is invisible demonstrates a misunderstanding of the Gaussian eye sensitivity. 400-700 is an often quoted range. It's good enough for an intro.

Replacement Diode for my Arctic Spyder III

You doubled the input voltage? Why? You may need to replace everything in there but the case. You can get a brand new (and better performing) look-alike for $50, or you can spend $150 in parts, 3 months lead time, and 4 hours in labor to get it back to original, substandard performance. Please...

Research Group Using Blue Diode Lasers to Fight COVID-19

Your terms contradict. If it's multimode, it can't read bluray. Using more general terms, violet laser diodes will do over half a watt in single mode. I think blue tops out at 100-200mW. Since this is all experimental and theoretical (and as admitted by the OP, potentially non-viable from the...

Bought Lasers and Don't Know What To Do

You're gonna have a rough time selling any of the 95 stuff. Those are 3phase-only. The vast majority of us are hobbyists with no regular access to 3 phase power. The 85 isn't very useful without a PSU. The 75 is standard 110V at least, but google tells me it's only a couple hundred mW. Not much...

Research Group Using Blue Diode Lasers to Fight COVID-19

SHG is often a lot easier (especially with experimental/theoretical crystal options) with a single mode pump. Violet single mode limit is a lot higher in practice than blue. If wavelength variation is a problem, that's what thermal regulation is for.

    Multiple beams

Interesting mount pattern. Say, If I merely mention Godwin's law, does that count as fulfilling it?

    Crushed Toads

Wrong section aside... The last 6 digits of those liPo packs are typically the size in dimensions. 11mm x 50mm x 25mm. It doesn't look like this is a standard size. But when I need to replace something like this, I substitute in a few different smaller dimensions until I find something in the...

    Nichia NUBM34T 115W 455nm

"I" is current in amperes (originally for intensity, maybe? Don't remember), not "A". Also, "R", not Ω Structure itself is wrong as well. Power is resistance squared multiplied by the current: P=I²R If you're having trouble, these cheat sheets are common. It's easier than it looks, as they're...

Sounds like regular manufacturing variability to me.

    Banggood 405nm Laser Diode Replacement

While the presence of output voltage from the driver in the absence of light output does indeed suggest a faulty laser diode, the lack of... diodity does not. Most multimeters' diode test function cannot detect a forward voltage above a volt or two.

Can I solder a laser diode directly to a PCB?

Yes, you need a tip temperature above the 188C to melt solder. But if you can't solder something as small as a diode pin at 260C, you're either really bad at soldering, or your iron is shite.

It's 2020... Can We Safely Store our Rechargeable Li-ion Batteries in Our Lasers Yet?

What makes 2020 different? I've been leaving lithium cells in all my gadgets forever. Alkalines pose more of a risk. Spewing their guts and corroding everything... Especially those Duracell f:cautious:ckers.
