i would recommend buying from a reseller like laserglow, the units bought direct from cni tend to have less quality parts.

the PGL was a 260mW green.

after 2 weeks, the PGL has turned to an under-spec 5mW (1~4mW)...

that laser is much cheaper because it is 1/5 the power and is only the laser head (no controller/PSU). Edit: Trevor just beat me to it add about $500 to the price of the head to get all the parts

the diode screws directly into the module. you would need that kind of diode which is special made for that module.

these modules have the diode built in. the third section in the picture is the diode.

Glenn, I don't think I am going to send the 589nm back it is on spec and the beam isn't /that/ bad. After 4 months I don't really want to wait anymore for this thing. Edit: it looks like i am going to have to send it back, one day in and it no longer powers on...

That sucks to hear after waiting 4 months... The PGL will be fun but the 589nm is what i really wanted. But at the end of the day, with the way CNI's quality has been going lately i'd rather not have them rushed or else we'll just have another WL on our hands.

images are a bit fuzzy, can you get a clear picture of the diode (where the pin fell off)? welcome to the forum BTW

Sounds like you broke off one of the diode's pins, most likely it will be more work than it's worth. How long have you had it? You may be best trying to send it back.
