    Auto balloon popping demo

That's cool but it looks completely fake (and I'm assuming it is). The balloon scraps just appear in mid air when they are popped.

Aluminum Carrying Case for handheld lasers

Thanks for all of the responses guys. How thick of foam should I be looking for? Is 1" enough or should I go for 1.5"-2"? I am probably going to pick up a nice looking poker case.

Aluminum Carrying Case for handheld lasers

Today I am starting my hunt for a good aluminum case to be able to fit a full set of handheld laser gear: batteries, glasses, and the actual pointer. This is the first one that I have seen and kind of like, but I think I can get it for less than $20 because lazerer doesn't give free shipping...

Review: 510nm Direct Green Diodes / Build Photos (DGH-N1, DGH-N2)

I've actually contacted someone who had some of these and they aren't horribly expensive believe it or not. They are cheaper than a WL Arctic for a 510nm diode. They won't sell to anyone though.

How is this possible without tritium?

A few low power led's should be able to accomplish this no problem. For all of you that say size is an issue, led's can be made thinner than a penny and about 2mm across. Size is not an issue here. The only issue I can think of would be that WL probably won't include an option to turn the led's...

Buy a blue laser at lazerpoint.com

As long as you have a paypal account (at least I thought that's what lazerer takes) and internet. :D Search the forum about laser laws though if that's what you mean. You're probably fine since lazerer marks their stuff as flashlights not lasers.

5000mw green laser? Is this site for real?

1000mW is the highest that is even sold on the internet, and those are around $800+ so its pretty much guaranteed to be a scam.

    2.3W yobresal build

That's quite a nice laser you got there. The graph seems to show you have a very stable build. Can you run this longer than a minute without it getting to hot?

    A new 445 project

That's amazing to say the least. Do I even need to mention the need for glasses here? Just kidding, I'm sure you know that already. Great job on the build, it looks great, although I'd like to see the finished case for that.

    400 nm?

I highly doubt its anything that great. I would say that if it's within 5nm it doesn't really matter a ton anyway unless you are a wavelength collector.

[Request] 445nm pics at different distances

Thanks for both your responses guys. It seems that a lot of people here over exaggerate the divergence of the 445's. I will probably end up getting a 445nm laser or build one myself depending on whether I can find any hosts that I like.

[Request] 445nm pics at different distances

Thank you greatly for that pic. I'm going to have a very hard time deciding between a blue or a green since 6in at ~275 feet isn't as bad as I thought. It still appears as a dot there. If you don't mind my asking, what kind of laser is that (brand and specs)? Also, is there a beam expander on...

Review: 510nm Direct Green Diodes / Build Photos (DGH-N1, DGH-N2)

Now if only we could get a ~520nm green. Of course I'd love to see a 510nm available to the public as well, but I'd say more green would be better since I haven't seen this in person to see the actual color.

[Request] 445nm pics at different distances

Thanks Hakzaw. That's pretty helpful to know. It does appear sort of spread out, but that's not bad since its around 165 feet away. At this point I think I've been convinced not to get a 445nm now despite the awesome power of these things. I just saw the 510nm diode thread, and they look amazing...

[Request] 445nm pics at different distances

Would you mind telling me where I can get a 500mW OSRAM diode? If this is what you meant, the highest one is 80mW, which I may be wrong about this, but it won't burn much. Edit: I'll just add this right now, I'm not looking for a perfect dot that looks just like a 5mW laser, I would be find...

[Request] 445nm pics at different distances

I've been searching for a few days, and have yet to find a picture of a dot at over 20 or so feet. I think there was one picture that said 41 feet, but nothing over that. Most pictures are indoors with the exception of the video about the 9km range of one of the 1w 445nm's. I would honestly like...

[Request] 445nm pics at different distances

So, I've been doing a ton of research over the past few days before considering what my first high power laser will be. I'm most definitely considering getting a 1w 445nm because of the price/power ratio, but I'm a little skeptical about the shape of the "dot" these diodes tend to produce. It...

There is Something "Wrong" With My Beam/Spot

Alright, thanks for the response and suggestions. I will keep my further discussions of this elsewhere to keep this thread on topic.

    Lazerer RIFLE V2 1.2W (12% overspec)

Thanks for the welcome. I've got a question about this laser now after thinking a little bit. Is the dot still round looking even when you see it around 50-100+ feet away? I was reading about what the diodes look like when its just the raw diode.

There is Something "Wrong" With My Beam/Spot

Okay, so I get that the 445nm diodes are going to be rectangular/possibly hourglass shaped or whatever other irregular shape, but what about the output of a handheld laser like the spartan 1w (dragonlasers) or the rifle 1.2w (lazerer)? Will the beam be noticeably rectangular or appear as a line...
