    about CW power measurements...

This simple revelation also helped me come up with the calculation that a 250mW laser is = to 15 watts per minute. Or 15 joule/minute. Or 15 watt seconds over the course of a minute Now I need to figure out a way to calculate how much of this energy is absorbed by a medium..to do work..vs...

    about CW power measurements...

Ahhhh....I severely overcomplicated the matter. In my idiocy I failed to understand watts can inherently be translated into joules per SECOND. Which I suppose answers my own question. I would then assume a LPM measures watts by dividing the joules over a given interval. Is that correct?

    about CW power measurements...

And how LPM's actually calculate the CW power. Obviously with a pulsed configuration you can accurately say "it produces X for X period of time" and thats it..it delivered X energy to the target. Simple. But with continuous wave it is a cumulative effect...so if I wanted to determine how much...

    The Lizard laser ( 445nm labby )

This is a very cool looking build. It looks dangerous even to the untrained eye. Which is good. That big heat sink even if you have no idea wtf a heat sink is looks like serious business!

My Wooden 10x! Thats right, I said Wooden!

This is fantastic. I was just watching the lord of the rings and realized I want a laser embedded in a staff for hiking and camping. A 1 watt would make a convenient fire starter without knocking over my fire. And if its a staff it can be used for so much more! Sorry for bumping an old thread...

    dot is big?

I hope u didint ship it through UPS man.. I work at UPS. And man let me tell you ...you would not believe....what ive seen. one guy can only do so much, I make sure I take care of shit. But not everybody does. Shit busts open...people dont give a fuck..send it on its way ...shit will bust open...

    dot is big?

Oh my bad. Not at all trying to discredit members...(but if it was shit they should know about it ;) not to make them feel bad but to make them improve :) Kinda like I need to do ) <3

    dot is big?

Sayin u just bought it tho? Not bein an expert on lasers...but this sounds like a BUSINESS ISSUE. Id message those people and tell them they sent me a shitty product...and I want to exchange it ...or a refund. Like ..Airsplat. good guys..I got a shitty product. Broke in a week. I called em...

    dot is big?

Sounds like me bro!!! I got a thread just like this below urs on beam divergance. Mine rattles like urs and the dot is bigger than it used to be.

Do any of you use your home lasers for fabrication purposes?

This is amazing and I still have so much to learn ^_^. Im just looking at the specs as u said and it hit me that there is such a low current. I need to do more research on electrical theory. I was under the impression amperage was a representation of the amount of electrons, the "volume". And...

Do any of you use your home lasers for fabrication purposes?

Ahh but if it doesnt necessitate using goggles and exposed beams and "danger stickers" around my garage then its hardly useful  But out of curiosity couldnt 50W burn/cut metal ...albeit very slowly and inefficiently? its enough power right..? Like thin sheets.

Do any of you use your home lasers for fabrication purposes?

This might sound odd. Im thinking of actually doing something "useful" with a high power laser in the future. I play around cars a lot and it seems having a laser would be very handy for precision cutting of light materials such as plastics for various things on a small scale. And its much...

    Beam has suddenly become divergent

The line is again, not visible to my eye. It is a refractive issue with the camera.

    Beam has suddenly become divergent

Oh good. Now I can put my vice to use. ^_^. The lens is so far in there I get to take the host to pieces :)

FS: Tiny 650nm "275mW" Red Laser Very Small

Ah I want to apologize BTW for sending you more than one PM today. I failed to read through every page of the thread :). I understand now you must be getting a lot of questions ^_^.

    Beam has suddenly become divergent

the beam is also noticably less visible , probably because its spreading out more.. its got fresh energizers in it (not that those are the best batteries by far...but they r new ^_^) It used to be a nice bright hot spot. Now its just a big round glob. Intense of course...

    Beam has suddenly become divergent

Phone camera lens clearly has its own issues. The light is scattering off the camera, nothing I can do about it. The rays you are seeing are a result of the camera, those "rays" are not present to my eye.

FS: Tiny 650nm "275mW" Red Laser Very Small

I think I might buy one from you today or tomorrow. Itll be a better buy than what I was gonna get at LED shoppe. And I need an excuse to round out my laser safety goggle collection. I need more coloorrz.

    Beam has suddenly become divergent

I cant really get a good picture to show either. I only have a camera phone and the laser does wiierd things to it. I can get an image of the dot but its highly distorted..and no real way to scale it
