here's my results for my Spartan 447nm 1W: Apature size: 4mm 10 feet: 10mm 20 feet: 18mm According to Pseudonomen's calculator, my Spartan's divergence is 2.62mRad. Btw I've measured the long side of the dot, facing horizontal, I suppose that would only make sense.

Added the link in the original post. Up close it looks like the typical "dot" but at about 15 feet it turns into a very thin focused line (allowing it to burn better) just a little bit wider than the upclose "dot" (assuming your dot is facing horizontal), this can only be seen when wearing...

I don't understand, what made you go from just normally pointing it in the mirror to quickly just pointing it at your face? Only explanation I could think of is -it slipped in your hand or -you were too focused looking into your iphone's screen and tried to get a beamshot forgetting your face...
