What is your internet connection speed?

We are going to run the server from a custom made dedicated server at my house. I have 170Mbps down and 40Mbps up so I should be able to handle a good number of people. I have also run servers on hosts but this time I have the internet at home capable of it.

    Tutorial: Pressing a Diode

I was also trying to add in some info for anyone reading this thread later on. TIMs have greatly varying effectiveness depending a lot on the actual design of the laser parts. I had one laser a while back that worked amazingly well with some added arctic silver because it was intended to press...

    Tutorial: Pressing a Diode

That's true. Thing is with lasers you aren't working with flat surfaces pressed together but rather mostly cylindrical parts that may or may not even touch all the way around. A diode pressed in a diode pocket is crammed in so well that it can even microscopically alter the shape of the pocket...

    Tutorial: Pressing a Diode

Most of the time it isn't used. The difference is that in the diode pocket the diode is pressed into it with such force that pretty much all the thermal grease would just come out. It can be used on the diode module to increase contact with the heatsink but in that design the gaps are...

    Tutorial: Pressing a Diode

Something like Arctic Silver can be used in extremely small amounts directly inside the diode pocket of the module(seriously small amount in the pocket) as well as around a diode module for increased contact area to the heatsink and around the heatsink for increased contact area to the host.

    First Build Of Powerful Laser

The lens that comes with the 9mm is a glass lens and they don't really get any better than that.

    First Build Of Powerful Laser

You did remove the lens from the little metal bracket it comes with to attach to the diode right?

Hello everyone! Looking for advice on what lasers to use in an aquarium.

The laser is fully focusable with any lens I have. This means if you focus in on something very close the beam would expand rapidly after the focal point. The beam is capable of being focused up to somewhere between 5mm and 10mm from the lens itself. If you are targeting something without a...

    Buying Lasers

It sort of depends on who its from. Some websites are black listed so they are checked more often while others are not. Either way though most lasers get through US customs NP, especially if there isn't a battery in the package and if they don't write LASER all over it. If you lived in...

Hello everyone! Looking for advice on what lasers to use in an aquarium.

The more power you have the faster it would be of course. Anything over about 1W will work but the higher you go the better it works. More power makes it faster and more through. The 2.7W laser would smite them extremely easily and quickly. Also with the 2.7W laser with the G2 lens in the bundle...

    First Build Of Powerful Laser

You don't need any of the original electronics other than the driver board so you can do whatever you want to the emitter and leads.

    Buying Lasers

I agree with every word of the above. This kind of thing is quite literally the reason we have so many laws and restrictions already. My suggestion is stick to small pen lasers from ebay until you can dedicate many hours of study and research over weeks of time. Start by researching safety and...

Hello everyone! Looking for advice on what lasers to use in an aquarium.

I just made a few 445nm lasers of outputs between 1.9W and up to 2.7W which would do this job very well if you are interested. I have already sold about a dozen for this exact purpose and everyone has said they work perfectly. Send me a PM if you are interested or you can check out my thread...

    First Build Of Powerful Laser

Drivers as battery contacts are quite common and are usually the easier way to build. However when you buy a premade module like what DTR sells he cannot use that style of driver because not every host is the same and not all use the same size driver. Unless you purchased your own battery...

What is your internet connection speed?

Talk about unrealistic connection test lol. I have a 1000Mbps connection about 30 feet away lol. IMO speed tests should be done at somewhere around 200-400 miles which is short enough to show the high end of the capability yet far enough so that you see the real world speed of your connection...

Holy smokes that's a sad connection haha. Good luck on the new one though. I am loving the extra speed I get from mine BIG time.
