    WTB: Oscilloscope

It has been suggested to me that I get an oscilloscope if I want to continue in electronics, but I have had many of the same questions that are being asked here. I just found this on fleebay and also a review of the product. Perhaps someone with more experience could say something. Personally I...

    Fiber Optics

I have a question on fiber. What kind would I use for a 12-40W 808nm FAP? I recently discovered something about fiber and high output lasers. So no one else runs into this. I had a spare piece of fiber with a fitting on the end that mated with my FAP. I decided to plug it in and see if I could...

    Why Gas?

Check ebay for a cheap setup. They come up alot so it shouldn't be much trouble. It's nice if the seller shows it lasing but i'v only had a few HeNe's come that didn't work....they last for a long time and do not need to be maintained like an argon.

    Why Gas?

.......Because gas lasers are just cool!

    Analog modulation with Flexmod P3

That does help. Thank you for the explanation.

    Analog modulation with Flexmod P3

I hooked up the fan to the PSU and everything seems to work without issue. The fan is a bit loud though....those little things really push some air! The fan turns on when I plug in the PSU and the laser is activated via the switch so there shouldn't be any problems on power up. Now I only have...

    Analog modulation with Flexmod P3

The PSU is 12V @ 5A 'adjustable' power supply. The fan is from the a140 projector and runs around 7.5v @ 300mA or so. So with this information on the PSU do you think that I could hook up the modulation to the main PSU without overpowering the 5V regulator and effecting the flow to the driver...

    Analog modulation with Flexmod P3

Simple answer: ....because I don't really know much about what I am doing. I didn't know if my main PSU could handle the modulation and/or my fan. I try to narrow what could be wrong with my builds through deduction. I don't have the background to know every part of my builds and try to piece...

    Analog modulation with Flexmod P3

3rd Time is the Charm! Finally got it up and working on my 3rd diode. I checked the driver again and found it was outputting 3A! So I went through the driver setting again.....and did it again for good measure. I set the standby at 250mA and the high point at 1250mA. Everything seems to work...

Photos of an DVD-RW 650nm laser diode, seen OFF-ON under a microscope.

Great Photo's again. It's neat how the main body of the diode when viewed that close looks like a block of lead, rough with a plating over it. Thanks for sharing the photo's!

    SSY-1 YAG Laser Build

Re: SSY-1 Laser Build Pretty sweet! I'v got a large scale yag and capacitor sitting on the side right now. Still need to do a lot of reading though to figure out how to trigger it. Thanks for sharing your build!:gj:

    For Sale FlexMod P3 drivers

Thanks for keeping these and the other drivers in stock. I still prefer to use the flex drivers in builds. Easy to set and easy to use.

Photos of an 405nm laser diode, with photodiode, seen OFF-ON under a microscope

These are Amazing photos!! Thank you very much for starting these threads. It's also great to see the diode while lasing.:gj::kewlpics: It's hard to believe all that is made into something you can't see with the naked eye and produces such a dramatic effect.

    Analog modulation with Flexmod P3

Thanks MadEye for the reply. The black think is a 9V battery. I tried the control box with the 9V in testing and it seemed to respond just as well as with my wallwart. Zero to five volt with a smooth transition via the POT. As for the driver, once I figured out that I needed the un-fused 10A...

    Analog modulation with Flexmod P3

I AM AT MY WITS END!!! So I went digging through my stock and actually found another 445nm diode. I decided to build an "actually real" board for the modulation and put it into a "nice" housing. I also ran the fan to the PSU(this may or may not have been the NEW problem) Okay, I got it all...

Story Time! How bad have you been shocked?

My worst experience was a bit like jeffreythe00's. When I was about 6-7 years old I also decided it might be interesting to put something into the wall plug. I found a paper clip and stuck it in. I was literally thrown across my room, something like 6' or so. What I remember most about the...
