how bad will the divergence get...

Its possible, but not worth the effort. The diode will not be collimated, basically a flashlight. At that point youre probably best off buying an IR laser or building one from the ground up. I do have 808nm units I could sell, but theyre >400mW intended more for burning so they will likely be...

What's the mw of the IR pump laser in a 5mw green?

Re: What's the mw of the IR pump laser in a 5mw gr I admit I've been out of the loops as far as lasers go for a few months, but last I remember the ONLY reliable 175mW pen size laser was made by CNI with their 500mW pump. Last I checked they only offer up to 150mW, but I've ordered and sold...

If you just killed a diode 'read this'

I once killed not one, but two WL pulsar units in a row on account of trying to work on them at 4AM with next to no sleep. Kept making stupid errors like forgetting to turn down the voltage on my power supply before turning it on. Long story short - two very nice soon-to-be-focusable red lasers...

What's the mw of the IR pump laser in a 5mw green?

Re: What's the mw of the IR pump laser in a 5mw gr The good old leadlights used 200mW 808nm diodes for 5mW, but they were notorious for being made with the parts of a more powerful laser, and just tuned down for legal/quality reasons. Nowadays with all the cheap 5mW units flooding the market...

    Super Prometheus | 387mw avg, 700mw capable!

Re: 375mw (650mw capable!) Prometheus and 200mw Bl electron, would you please actually read my post before you start throwing around insults? I already covered that in my post... To recap though, its clear that: "You of all people should know there are major differences between the RPL and the...

    Super Prometheus | 387mw avg, 700mw capable!

Re: 375mw (650mw capable!) Prometheus and 200mw Bl Hey guys, I know I have a crapload to catch up with on the forums and I honestly don't have time right now - sorry guys. Someone sent me an e-mail about this trash talk from Jack though, and so I'm just here to offer a quick response: Jack...

    Power Meter Calibration and Comparison

Heh, no I wouldn't start taking apart any of the setup without permission first. I just tried sticking 6V through the connector and I was getting some violet output (didn't test the power yet - wasn't sure if there was another driver in the head or not. Anyway, was that PSU meant to power either...

    Power Meter Calibration and Comparison

Sorry for the wait guys, but am I doing something completely boneheaded here or what? I got the box with 2 lasers and one PSU. I plugged the red into the PSU and it works well - the unit is labelled 126mW and I'm getting readings ~124.5-125 at its peak. However I plugged the blu-ray into the...

new warning on dx about laser shipping..

There seems to be a bit of argument about the Prometheus/RPL units that have been sold (I got messages from people on both AIM and MSN about it, heh). Viasho informs me they have received approval through accession #0710553-000. That's all I can really know to tell y'all, sorry.

new warning on dx about laser shipping..

Please read the laws. It is an FDA requirement - a very clear, and unambiguous part of the regulation at that. You at least have to specify the absolute maximum output as well as the class. Calling a 100mW laser anything less than a class IIIB/R is indeed providing false information. Which do...

new warning on dx about laser shipping..

CDRH (center for devices and radiological health) is part of the FDA and they control a lot of the laser regulations. Keep in mind its not that the US introduced new laws - these have been illegal long before DX ever popped up. Seems like they're actually trying to enforce the law a bit more...

So what does Analogue Modulation do exactly?

^ When you're through with the bickering, make sure you guys read that ;) (the percentage has nothing to do with the modulation - even lasers without modulation may be rated to certain stability tolerances)

    Just a little?! :P

So what does Analogue Modulation do exactly?

They are both ways to control your lasers output with an input signal (IE, if you need to control output via a computer or in any case where its important to change output remotely and/or quickly) TTL is a digital method - like a computer you have 0's and 1's. Either its 0V for laser off or +5V...

    Vacation!

Pictures take time and work. When I make a post, if I have pics I add them. Dunno if the OP feels similarly so this may just be me ranting, but I find it pretty rude when people just leave a one line post asking for pics and don't give a thought to the time and work the poster will have to go...

    SLD1332V 500mw 670nm laz0r diode

Heh, well when I said cans I meant 5.6mm and 9mm cans - the 5.6mm particularly since that's what we're all used to using in AixiZ modules. TO3 are a whole different package altogether - quite large, heavy heatsink. I'm sure there are TO3 reds, afterall its just mounting the chip in a diff...

    SLD1332V 500mw 670nm laz0r diode

DAMMIT! Turns out I was sent the wrong pricelist (wrong currency). Revised price is $650. Sorry if it seems I was trying to bait you guys or anything - this was an error beyond my control. As for pics, all I have on hand is a 290mW unit. Honestly, if you saw a beam though it'd just look like...

    SLD1332V 500mw 670nm laz0r diode

Haha, sorry guys. Its just like how you can get a Nova X Series 20mW or you can get a 150mW. You can get an Orion 200mW, or you can get the same model but in 500mW (through me of course  ;)). It utilizes a multi-mode c mount 660nm diode and is rated for 500mW CW operation (no overdriving). Just...

    SLD1332V 500mw 670nm laz0r diode

Sry, I haven't read all the post so I may not be giving good info, but I've been seeing mention of $500 for just a 500mW diode? Well, I can offer 500mW red lasers like the Orion 200mW at laserglow for just $550 - VERY limited time offer so get in touch soon  ;). Its the whole, turnkey, US-legal...
