1A LM317 driver with current selection switch

Yeah! I have a big capacitor dated 1987, is a bit old, a Siemens 16000uF 50V from a Elebra Emilia PC. It's a cute big heavy capacitor that I use to make some sparks when I'm bored. It's a good filter cap for those antique diodes! :) Here is a preview of my laser without the laser: I done...

1A LM317 driver with current selection switch

1975? Wow! Those things are old! For my searches, it support up to 35A.

WARNING- See if you will ever buy an Ultrafire after seeing this.....

I have one of those blue generic 18650 battery of a brand called "JWS" 3500mA, and one ultraFIRE 3700mA blue too, it works, but I'm really scared now to use then. I'll search for reputable batteries here in Brazil, don't wanna pass this risk. I will buy a quality charger too.

I looked into my green laser ahhh

Where is "Kaan709"? He disappeared! He/she has only 2 posts here. If isn't a troll, he/she must got blind and can't see the keyboard anymore!

1A LM317 driver with current selection switch

That diodes don't seems easy to find, some can handle 100+A!

1A LM317 driver with current selection switch

Hi The Lightning Stalker. What kind of diodes are those? Never seen anything like this before.

1A LM317 driver with current selection switch

Hahahah! :toilet: That must be true, see the poor thing:  Today I done the control unit, with two switches (specially because it can go over and not inside the box as you can see), that's improvised from a old computer case, the part that covers the CD/DVD unit: And waiting the...

1A LM317 driver with current selection switch

My test load just make me laugh from time to time, is 7 different diodes, all different sizes and some of different brands, each one have it's own specific voltage drop. All soldered together with a 1R resistor. It get very hot at 1A, but since nothing burned, its OK. I decided not allow the...

1A LM317 driver with current selection switch

You're welcome! That's the way! I still doing tests and modifications on my driver, that's the flexibility that's a dummy load provides! Fuses will work fine!

1A LM317 driver with current selection switch

I think each 338 will need its own resistor, just make two drivers of 2,2A and then connect the two inputs and the two outputs together, the output cap can be the same. Wait for somebody else to be sure. --------- I was thinking in assembling my laser into a 15cm X 20cm wood board, and...

1A LM317 driver with current selection switch

That's true! I love opening random topics to see what persons are asking/showing! My last mistake was kill a LD with it's own bean reflected back into it. I know. My 317 at 19V generates a lot of heat, if I leave the fan off and start to use the driver, it will go over 70¡ãC! With the little...

1A LM317 driver with current selection switch

I'm the inverse case, I had a course of electrician, that's not my way! But in electronics I think I'm good enough. Then I think that's enough for your needs, as I do some modifications in my DDL drivers, it's cool to know if it will work stable and what is the consequences. The only thing I...

1A LM317 driver with current selection switch

Great! That's how I done: Just adjust your driver and then, set the potentiometer to output only 0,1V. Here is the software I used: Link What measurements you wanna do? If you need help let me know!

1A LM317 driver with current selection switch

Re: Will LM317 work on 7.5V 1A for blue LD? Driver assembled. I done it using my notebook and the result was awesome! All measurements was taken with a 5.5V test load between the 1R resistor. Firstly the output of my driver (those interferences are so tiny!): Now switching the...

1A LM317 driver with current selection switch

Re: Will LM317 work on 7.5V 1A for blue LD? Driver assembled. I don't have any oscilloscope to use, I was thinking in use my old computer to do this.

1A LM317 driver with current selection switch

Re: Will LM317 work on 7.5V 1A for blue LD? Driver assembled. Can someone say if shorting a resistor to change the current of the driver can be dangerous for the laser diode? I already done this with red diodes, but with a U$45,00 laser diode is different. How can I protect the diode from any...

1A LM317 driver with current selection switch

Re: Will LM317 work on 7.5V 1A for blue LD? Driver assembled. SMD? Really? That's crazy! I already done some circuits using this kind of build! The feeling of turn this kind of stuff on hoping for the best is unforgettable! I done a lot of LM555 experiments! Think about resistors, large...

1A LM317 driver with current selection switch

Re: Will LM317 work on 7.5V 1A for blue LD? Driver assembled. That is cool! The 11.1V pack will fit better for your needs. Maybe 11.1V @ 5000mAh? That's will give you about a hour of run time (through my inaccurate math :p). My will run on outlet, run it with batteries will be too expensive...

1A LM317 driver with current selection switch

Re: Will LM317 work on 7.5V 1A for blue LD? Driver assembled. Thanks man! :) But the LM317 I used was defective, when I changed the current from 200 to 900mA, all started to fry, in the dummy load I readed 5A!!! The 1R resistor burned my pants :wtf: , the resistors inside the driver fried...

1A LM317 driver with current selection switch

Re: Will LM317 work on 7.5V 1A for blue LD? I built my driver and tested again, the current starts to drop when output voltage < 4V! So, the answer is NO! It uses a LM317, but now with a 19.1V @ 3.42A laptop power supply. Since at this voltage the LM317 will produce a lot of heat, I decided to...
