Reputable Seller for Snowboard-Style Safety Goggles?

Here you go, straight from the source/Chinese manufacturer that makes Eagle Pair which SL resells: https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.108.3bbb6c5esEJrIS&id=17999507049&ns=1&abbucket=9#detail I've bought from Taobao before, they'll ship to North America if you ask them nicely

So where are you all from?

Also not tryna give the anti-laserists more ammo by posting gorey content that could potentially be used as evidence in a court of law to impose further restrictions on lasers ;) Lasers are fun but like all things worth doing, they have some risks

Hit in eye with 1000mw 445nm blue laser

Actually, OD3 goggles should theoretically be able to attenuate a 5W laser down to 5mW. But again, I like to test everything before I put it on... If I have any doubts about the wavelength, I just put on my VR laser protection goggles (those work on all wavelengths)

    Hey there!

I think your soldering looks fine! Do you use a small-tipped iron or a hot air gun for such small circuitry? I also have a 500mW red keychain laser, those things are great conversation starters lol

    Super duper high powered lasers

Punching holes through things (with say a gun) requires far less energy than vaporizing a hole through them (with a laser)

    Super duper high powered lasers

Still quite a ways away from the Schwinger limit that would need to be reached to allow pair production (for say converting energy into matter). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schwinger_limit According to my (possibly faulty, please correct me if I am wrong) calculations: In order for a 445nm...

Hello, I'm from Oregon and I'm a noob with a problem.

Agreed, stakes are too high when it comes to eye protection. Let this be a lesson learned for both parties... Buyers: If you can, always momentarily check your goggles in an inconspicuous area with a moderately powerful laser + LPM before putting them on. If the LPM reads 0 and the goggles...

    NUBM44-V2 FOR CNC MACHINE

Nice, love the way it turned out! I'm planning on doing something similar but mounted on a 3d printer

Help me because my parents are mad at me

Well you do practically wield lightning in your hand now, so there's that

Vapcell t8 850mAh batteries won't work after I charged them overnight

What kind of charger do you use? Are you sure the battery voltage is the same as before? Have you ever seen your laser actually work correctly? If not, the laser might be defective

Struggling to put 3.8mm diode in to housing

https://www.survivallaser.com/38mm_Diode_Press/p556088_11598722.aspx You can find them even cheaper with some research

    CO2 or active fiber ?

Holy sh!t that thing is dangerous XD Though they probably use an adaptive lens to focus it to a point on the tree to minimize the risk of long-range blinding, it's a fire hazard to say the least lol

    Host With Optical Shelf Needed

I could even radially mount some off-the-shelf heatsinks to the central diode module and just use the PETG as some semi-heat-conducting mounts. Imagine a frankenstein laser but with everything nice and self-contained I'd imagine a custom 500g laser host would cost less than $20 in materials and...

    Host With Optical Shelf Needed

I wonder if a sufficiently over-engineered graphite-infused PETG heatsink made using a 3D printer could give say 15 seconds of duty cycle (for the NUBM44) I'd imagine that it'd be possible with a good enough design and active cooling... Guess I'll test it out once I get my hands on some, would...

Imagine doing this by hand 🥵

Damn their cheapest laser costs like $1k, and it has a lower output power than my $50 gatling laser. To be fair it has galvos and a microcontroller and stuff, but still seems wayy overpriced: https://lasershowprojector.com/collections/unity-raw-series/products/unity-raw-1-7

    DVD RW laser die... HELP!

Not so sure running it at 240mA would do much in the way of extending lifetime since most DVD RW reds are made to run under 200mA at most But besides that not having a capacitor in the circuit or a defective laser could be the culprit
