    Jufran88's late spring cleaning sale!!

Thanks guys! I'm pretty sure it can be done, just need to use a strap wrench or similar to break the glue seal. I've tried by hand it's almost impossible. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

FS: ***Selectable test load up to 3A (assembled or DIY kit)*** IN STOCK!

Ah yes, he did in order to determine the number of diodes to use on the test load. You are correct that you have to add the test load diodes Vf + resistor Vf to match the overall Vf for the laser diode.

FS: ***Selectable test load up to 3A (assembled or DIY kit)*** IN STOCK!

@blord: Ah, yes I forgot. :o @scumbagatheist: Vf of resistor is calculated by Ohm's law (V=IR). Since resistance is 1 with 2% tolerance, V=I or Vf = I It could be a little higher or lower depending on the actual resistance, but it shouldn't vary that much. PM incoming.

FS: ***Selectable test load up to 3A (assembled or DIY kit)*** IN STOCK!

Hey Roger no problem, basically you just want to get as close as possible to the voltage drop the laser diode. It depends which 445nm diode you'll be using some of them will drop 4.5V or more at that current. The diodes on the test load will drop about .7V-.9V depending on the current each so...

How do i take apart this 2D maglite?

You'll be needing a Torx T8, a T handle preferably or a regular handle with a slim shaft. I bought a set of Torx screwdrivers at Lowe's and ended up having to grind down the shaft to be able to fit down that hole. ;)

Whats the brightest single cree LED?

I'm a member of that forum as well! Nice people. For a CREE, I'm sure Dr_Evil has it right, the XM-L U2 bin is the brightest. There are even U3-U6 bins, but then again they aren't single die. Besides CREE, Luminous has the CST-90, which is just a tad brighter than the SST-90.

LED Maglite 3D Direct Drive SST-90 5700K w/ aspheric lens Build + Info ***PIC HEAVY**

Hmm, you could try that but it might be pretty dim or might not even light up at all. These LEDs need at least 9 amps to run properly. I wouldn't trust those batteries as well. I doubt they can pull a 10C discharge. I think I posted a few drivers in the OP if you wish to try that.
