Yeah, I never did get a response back from them when I asked about the availability of the 780nm modules. They may have just ignored that email though since they solved the backorder problem.

Oh well. I don't know which one they will end up sending me, but I probably won't be able to tell the difference. My first "real" laser (an x105) is on its way, so my only basis for comparison right now is the red "cat toys".

Heh...I heard the exact opposite from somebody on SpectraForum. He likes the glass lens over the acryllic one, having used both in the past. Oh well, I'm not sure they'll send me one anyway, so it's a crap shoot. I guess I'll just be happy with the one that I get.

No, I meant that. If it wasn't your intent, then no hard feelings. Message boards don't allow for intentions to be communicated, so sometimes things get misinterpreted. The 2-week delay was in a comment (sorta like the one I quoted above...started with "seller added the following information")...

I was there in July...it was 115 every day. But it was only 3% humidity...IT'S A DRY HEAT! It felt like somebody was holding a hair dryer to my face every time I walked outside. My previous try was in February...I think all future trips will be in winter was well.

Well, they got the backorder situation straightened out on their 5mW 650nm units, so I ordered one today. I asked for the glass lens version in the PayPal instructions field, and offered to pay more for it if necessary. We'll see what happens.

As of yesterday both the eBay auctions for the 5mW 650nm modules and AixiZ's website both said that "Due to high demand, there will be a 2 week delay in shipping of these units".  In fact, if you look right now on Aixiz's laser page, it says "PLEASE NOTE THE 12X30mm 5mw BACKORDER ISSUE SOLVED...

First off, it's resistance. I'm not sure I understand you "assumption" of 1amp. The ratings on batteries are mAh, which is milliAmp hours. So, if you have a circuit drawing 300mA (which is 0.3A, I think you had a typo with that .2), then you will be able to run that circuit for 4 hours at 3V...

I don't know about communication, but their billing system is healthy. I ordered an x105 late on Sunday, and it was billed on Monday. I hope it shipped Monday too.

Can you give me a link or part number for the chrome module that contains the glass collimating lens? I have heard people complaining about the plastic lens not working very well. Do all of the 12x30mm cases come with a glass lens?

Why don't they show these on the website or eBay store? They don't even have 780nm lasers available in any form on either store site. I'd pay them the full $4.50 for the 5mW laser module without the diode...just the case. I just don't need a 10-pack for $25. BTW, what color is 780nm or is it IR?

All I could find at Radio Shack was a 1k-Ohm pot...they didn't even have the 25-Ohm that was suggested. Will this pot work, or should I work up an order to Digikey (I don't just want to order a $0.50 part)?

When do you envision these shipping, SenKat? Also, do you happen to have any Aixiz modules to spare? The only place I see them is on eBay for a 10-pack. I just want to get one to see if I have the skills to build one of these things myself. If I'm successful, I may pick up a 10 pack and get...

I'm admittedly new to this, but what exactly is wrong in that thread? Would it make more sense if the URL in the original post wasn't edited out (i.e. it was a Nova Laser instead of a ThinkLaser)?
