    Toggle Switches

Can somebody recommend a good ON-OFF maintained toggle switch? I had a switch in my parts bin, but when I wired it up, it leaks voltage even when its off...that's not good for battery life and probably not good for the circuit either. Since I'm turning my Sony diode into a labby type laser, I...

    Techlasers

Ah, the old "raise your prices by 50% then offer a 20% off discount" trick. They must be working from the Sheisters Handbook from the 60's.

    Nova X105

    I just got my x105, so I have the case sitting in front of me. The dimensions are: 8 x 2.5 x 2 inches (204 x 63 x 50 mm)

    help me!!! i(dx 26.00 50mw)

If you can figure out what the resistance was set to on the pot, you could just buy a resistor and put that in instead of another pot.

    DIY Homemade laser diode driver

Hey DDL, Is the voltage drop in your circuit so high that you need to drive it with 6V to get ~3 at the LD? I was planning on powering it with 2xAAs, but I need to change that to 4xAAs or 2xCR123s if I need more voltage.

    Help finding mini Dorcy

20 U.S. dollars = 24.5368666 Australian dollars Google is your friend. Just search for "20 USD to AUD" and you get the above output. This also works for math and unit conversions.

    My laser!

Re: Will this work for powering a laser diode? You're only going to power this thing with 1.5V?

    Continue Profit Arugment Here.....

Re: Interest guage - 200mw 660nm red pointers... I agree with this 100%. If somebody bashed me for doing all of the work to get them a better deal on something, I wouldn't do it any more either. Seriously, why does it matter to you if he makes a profit? He's doing all of the work. You still get...

    Continue Profit Arugment Here.....

Re: Interest guage - 200mw 660nm red pointers... Well, Laserman, it goes like this... SenKat contacts a manufacturer to get bulk pricing on an item. He advertises a certain price on this forum (whether or not it is the price he is quote is irrelevant). He sets up avenues of payment, and makes...

    NOVA's discount ?

Yeah, it took me about 3 days to get a response to that email, but when you get an answer like that, it's hard to complain.

    NOVA's discount ?

I started reading LPF after I already placed my order with Nova, so I discovered the "Warp5" discount code too late. I emailed Nova asking if they could retroactively honor the discount code (hey, it never hurts to ask, right?). I just got an email from Magdelena saying that they couldn't issue...

Diode Casings for the DYI Mag light lazer mod

It was Kyle. He bought some of the glass lens models from you in the GB, and was surprised to hear you say that you preferred the acryllic. In fact, you said in another thread, that the plastic lens doesn't collimate but the glass one does. Doesn't that mean that the glass one would be better?

Diode Casings for the DYI Mag light lazer mod

I graduated from Rose-Hulman in 2002, and University of Louisville in 2007 with a Masters. I work in industrial automation, though, so most of our stuff is powered by 480VAC. My circuit designs don't scale well to lasers.

    Cheap IR testing method

I helped design a chopper circuit in college that charges up a capacitor to fire a flash bulb (basically the same circuit as in a camera, except ours had to charge the cap in about 1/20th the time as the camera circuit). When we needed to work on the circuit after testing it, we had to discharge...

Diode Casings for the DYI Mag light lazer mod

I have access to suction bottom vices at work too (again, we don't use them, so I can borrow them). I have a multimeter, soldering iron, helping hands, and about every other hand tool I would ever need. I'm an electrical engineer, so I have experience working with electronics, but I'm new to lasers.

Diode Casings for the DYI Mag light lazer mod

We have a press for seating ICs on circuit boards at work (and nobody can figure out why or where it came from since we don't do that), so I might "borrow" that for a few days to do my pressing. A drill press is on my "long list" of things to buy, but I don't have access to one at the moment...

cheap powerful 5mW green laser pointer

If you can come down $200 on your blue lasers, you'd be competitive. If you can come down $300 on them, I'll buy one.

Ripping apart an AixiZ 5mw unit for DVD laser

I just wanted to bump this for future reference. That video of the AixiZ module is exactly what I've been looking for. The only thing that would have made it better would be actually showing the removal and re-seating of a laser diode in the module.

    Can someone elxplain?

Who cares? With that many buttons and dials, it HAS to be fun to play with.

Diode Casings for the DYI Mag light lazer mod

I'm building DDL's driver circuit, so I shouldn't have any problem overdriving the diode (unless the pot shorts out). I just want to test with an LED and the cheapo laser diode to make sure I don't mess up the good one. I've seen tips on how to remove the old diode and press the new one, but is...
