Yes, it's IR diode in 9mm package.

I was thinking about powerful diodes that are useful in high-power portable builds. It's much easier to make portable laser with 9mm diode and 4USD module than to make custom modules to fit C-Mount. You are right, cmount is the most common package for high power diodes.

All powerful 808nm diodes are in 9mm package. Yes, that diode looks pretty the same as mine.

Almost every flashlight driver has same specifications. We need to know what chip it uses, what coil and what capacitors it uses, is there pot for adjusting current. High resolution picture will be helpful.

I also don't see any good purpose of 3 Hz mode. Fast-Strobing mode is only mode that makes this laser more useful. (what is frequency of fast-strobing mode?)
