Yeah the batteries are not that great. I never got around to getting the nicer cells, but as jayrob said, your runtime should go up dramatically with the batteries he linked

I am selling a LOC in a Jayrob MDXL host. The host is an older version 4171 and uses RCR123, so it will not fit 18650 size batteries. It is using a Rckstr driver set to 412 mA. It is currently outputting around 210mw with an Aixiz acrylic lens. I am looking to get around $50 shipped for...

Ok I'll give that a shot. It could of been heat since getting the solder off was tough and I might have heated the pins up too much. I like your idea RA, I think I'll use that in the future.

I'm using a 18650 to power it. I have the positive and negative wired up, and the case pin is going to the negative input on the driver (its a case negative host). When I was harvesting the diode, i soldered the pins together to prevent static damage while pressing the diode into the module...

I hooked up a Lite-On 12x diode to a microboost set for 500ma, but all I get is a faint purple light, barely visible. It also seems to flicker a little bit. Im hoping its not dead since this is the second one I've tried to get working. :yabbem:

Nice work on the heatsink! Ive been working on one of these myself and the heatsinks are a little tough to get right

Do you mean that they don't make 18650s that have a capacity of 3000mAh? They do exist, but what is stated by the seller and the actual capacity of the battery are often two completely different things. In this case I seriously doubt that those batteries will even approach 3000mAh, especially...
