Are the chinese blue lasers in any way a bad idea?

Hello, Sorry if this has been discussed before, I did not seem to find that information by searching. I do know that in case of green lasers, there is usually a missing IR filter on the cheaper ones, making them a lot more dangerous than a high quality one. What is the case with blue (445)...

This is CRAZY | Please, help me understand the dos and don'ts a bit better

Honestly and weirdly enough, if you do that, Youtube might as well banish your channel for providing "click bite" thumbnails and name. If your thumbnail is idiotic, it is expected for your content to be so as well. This youtuber in another video (I will purposely stop posting links to his...

Newbie here: will looking at the dot from Blue 1W 445 from 1 meter damage sight?

Once again, I am not the guy from the video I referenced. I did find this video in search of how people operate those lasers. I do have a youtube channel - a travel vlog, which I have not referenced anywhere here.

This one goes beyond stupid. In fact, I think all of his laser videos should be removed from YouTube.

Newbie here: Will looking at the laser's dot for a minute from 1 meter with no glasses cause harm?

Well said. I understand and I thank you for your time putting this into perspective. I think it will be a good idea that a post would be made in the Laser Safety section describing in particular all cases related to staring at the dot under different circumstances.

Newbie here: Will looking at the laser's dot for a minute from 1 meter with no glasses cause harm?

I got the laser on Saturday and did not register and post before Monday. I did use that time to scout the internet and try find as much info as possible. The thing is, I found controversial answers - both that it is safe and okay and that it is damaging and not acceptable. And then I registered...

Thank you. I may as well go ahead and like your comment. Very well put. With the only exception that, the video is in fact a great example of all things you should NEVER do with a high power laser.

Yeah, I was too excited I suppose. I've edited all my replies here. Thanks!

He is an idiot, I unfortunately need to agree, for A) operating the equipment without prior notice and not in accordance to how it should be done and B) selling it without proper instructions given at all, nor safety glasses. I hope I have a strong chance this one-off occurrence has not damaged...

Not at all. He was obviously completely uninformed about what he is dealing with, as I assume scarily many people are. I will, myself, from now on, if I keep the laser, always use goggles with the one exception when pointing the sky.

It’s “Is it possible to cut pizza with laser?” Wow. It seems there is more... This guys truly proves that God (or whatever superpower you believe in) protects the crazy.

O, so you haven’t watched the video itself yet? It goes FAR beyond what you would expect from the thumbnail. How do I post? I actually copied the URL in my OP, but it doesn’t work that way, I assume? I strongly encourage watching this from 8:11. I was laughing in pain though.

Hello guys, my third post here, as I am researching the topic of laser safety. I stumbled upon THIS video (it's not mine and I do not know that person): And I am in AWE. How can someone be THAT irresponsible? But probably the more interesting question - are lasers THAT dangerous of someone...

No replies one hour in. Perhaps I should rephrase this - I am just trying to understand if my exposure as outlined has been outrageously dangerous, or just it's that I have "not done the best thing and I should generally not do it", but it's not too risky / concerning as a one-off accident. So -...

Hello, I just bought my first blue laser. Not knowing enough about it, I fell a “victim” to the seller (got it second hand) as he was demoing it for me prior to purchase. He happily shown me how it burns a matchstick, white paper (!) and blue plastic cap. This happened outside in pure daylight...
