LASERGLOW finally started to sell 447nm lasers

Once again, I don't in any way represent Laserglow and my opinions are just that, my own. Nothing that I say should be considered guaranteed specifications. The Polaris (and the Hydra and Hydra Pro) use optics specially designed for diode lasers that extract the portion of the output beam that...

LASERGLOW finally started to sell 447nm lasers

Re: LASERFLOW finally started to sell 447nm lasers Haha, I don't deal with the website. I just work with the lasers, man. I'll mention the issue to Justin.

LASERGLOW finally started to sell 447nm lasers

Re: LASERFLOW finally started to sell 447nm lasers The Polaris is a beast of a laser. I'd have one if I didn't spend all day, every day with them. Wait, am I allowed to say that? :D

Powering a HeNe with an old CRT monitor

My previous impression was that a flyback transformer could only source a few hundred uA, not the 5-8 mA needed to run a HeNe. Though the voltage is definitely 10x higher than it needs to be. That extra energy must be going somewhere... does the tube get unusually hot running like this?

Powering a HeNe with an old CRT monitor

Pretty neat. I'm surprised it's lasing, I didn't think the flyback in a CRT could source enough current. Nice work sir, I learned something new today.

Endavour 250 MW (average 295,3 mW laser)

It's definitely a typo. The Average and Peak powers are switched.

    Help Powering CO2 Laser

I had one of these. It worked for a short time before the oscillator died and I was never able to get it working again. The connections you've shown in your last image are correct. Both grounds are connected to each other. The 5V input draws about 500mA, the 12V input draws about 2A, and the...

    Nova Lasers Price Drops!

Contact Nova. They will replace it for you. Though it sounds like weak batteries. Try new ones first. Seeing as how the peak power is less than the average power, looks like there was some sort of mistake. Perhaps the stability wasn't so great so it was classified as a 250. Check it with a...

    Nova Lasers Price Drops!

For the record: I do not represent or speak on behalf of either LG or Nova. The views presented below are my own. I can't go into the specific details of the relationship between the two companies, and I can't start asking them to cherry-pick lasers for forum members. One request leads to a...

    Nova Lasers Price Drops!

The highest power Endeavor series is rated at 275. Any lasers that fall between 250 and 275 are classified as 250. Anything over 275, even if more than 100mW over, still gets sold as a 275, since there is no such thing as an Endeavor 375. The highest power 250 you could get should in theory have...

Argon Troubles (Mode Hopping / Temperature)

TEM00 isn't the highest power mode. TEM01 and other higher order modes consume more of the energy in the cavity and produce more output power. As you increase the current, the laser will hop to a higher power mode as they become available. The different colors come from different laser...

    Nova Endeavor-275

It's no error. Trust me. I'm not entirely sure who started this premium/non-premium business. Nova never said they were selling clearance (non-premium) items. They said they were selling items at clearance prices. You know, to clear out stock, for whatever reason. I don't know anything else...

    Nova Endeavor-275

Sometimes a little extra effort goes a long way. Add in a little luck with what's in stock at the time, and you got yourself what was probably the most overspec laser they had. Glad you're enjoying it!

    Diode Wavelengths

The reason diodes are only available for specific wavelengths is because of the materials they are made out of. The laser diode needs to be made of two semiconductor materials, and those materials need to support stimulated emission. Most semiconductors don't emit light at all! The junction...

Help hooking up my new HeNe

The power supply will probably go kaboom before the tube does. That said, make sure there is a resistor in there. The positive output of the power supply is the thick red wire. Attach it to the anode, which is the end on the right in your picture. I don't think those rings have anything to do...

    Nova Lasers Price Drops!

Half a dozen Endeavor 250s in stock, around a dozen 225s. Disappearing fast. If I didn't have daily access to high-powered lasers, I'd get one myself!
