I would assume that the different sized nozzles are for water flow direction. The water should flow in through the large one and out of the smaller one. This way there is a bit of water pressure inside the tube which prevents air pockets and allows for more even temperature. That's just my best...

Very nice unit! Argon lasers a beautiful machines. :D And generally it is a bad idea to turn them on and off frequently. There are lots of components, including the tube, which undergo quite a bit thermal stress every time the laser is powered up (and shut down). If you plan to use it again...

I think you're going to need to be a bit more specific about what you're talking about. What ruby diodes? What gamma ray lasers? But for the last question, the short answer is no.

Where did it say class 3B? All Hercules lasers exceeding 500mW are Class 4 and are labeled as such.
