    A desktop-size 10 TW laser

I think Coherent has been selling TW-level amplifiers for several years now: Coherent Inc. Hidra is a high energy, 10 Hz Ti:Sapphire amplifier.

    OEM Laser Systems is gone

I've never bought from OEM Laser Systems, but it seems it was a great company. This is definitively a major loss for the LPF community. :-(

    Mosquito Laser

This could be dangerous. What if the mosquito was right in between the laser aperture and someone's eyeball?

Looks like the FDA is finally fed up with handheld lasers...

Another thing that came to mind: if Laserglow is really stopping shipments to the U.S. due to the customs seizures, then how will they handle repairs for U.S. citizens who have bought lasers before the restriction?

    Laser on Airliner, User Arrested.

This is a black eye for all of us if true. :(

    FDA tester.

It's possible that the FDA is only targeting specific companies. For example, Laserglow claims every class IIIb or IV handheld laser that they recently shipped to the U.S. has been returned. But then again, they're an honest company that refuses to put fake labels on their packages.

What's the wavelength of pure blue?

I think the OP is asking about the shade of blue used in the RGB color model.

    Free Surefire 6P giveaway!!! ENDED

Re: Free Surefire 6P giveaway!!! Ends soon. Damn, I'm too late. :( But congrats to the OP on getting third place and 2007Revolution on winning the flashlight. :D

It looks like Laserglow is on the FDA radar.

FDA Seeks CBP Help in Cracking Down on Illegal Laser Product Imports

This would explain why Laserglow (which is based in Canada) stopped shipping class IIIb and IV lasers to the U.S. all of a sudden.

    FDA Proposal

Great start. One thing you could consider is try to make the letter shorter while keeping the important points. Otherwise, the person reading the letter might go "TL;DR" and put it aside without putting much thought into it.

Looks like the FDA is finally fed up with handheld lasers...

Another idea is to sell the portable lasers as separate components that can be easily put together. I know BitLasers does this.

Looks like the FDA is finally fed up with handheld lasers...

One can only hope there's a lawyer among us that's willing to do pro bono work. P.S. I take it that Laserglow isn't the kind of company that would be willing to stick class IIIa labels onto IIIb products to get around the restrictions?

Laserglow no longer shipping handhelds over 5mW

I did a search but couldn't find many mail forwarding services that are based outside the States. I suspect they're not in high demand. However, if anyone knows any such services, please consider adding them to this thread.

    reputable mail forwarding services

In light of some laser companies (such as Laserglow and DealExtreme) discontinuing U.S. deliveries, it seems the best solution (other than group buys organized by a non-U.S. member) is to use a mail forwarding service that's based outside the States. This will probably increase the cost...

Laserglow no longer shipping handhelds over 5mW

Hmm, that's a good point. In that case, it might be better to use an existing mail forwarding service. Speaking of which, maybe someone could create a list of reputable reshipping services. The other thing I could think of is a group buy organized by someone outside the U.S.
