Green has two perks, first of all it's ~40x brighter then red, and second, eye protection is much cheaper for green. :P

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the PS2 only has a DVD reader, not burner, so at best, there could be a 3mW diode in it. It's not going to be much brighter then a keychain laser you can get at a flea market. You need to take apart a DVD burner to get a high powered diode ;)
