    Why use a round host?

Also makes sense to use a host in a shape that most commonly used batteries are - round :)

You're gonna want to see this

Could be useful in liquid cooling the innards of a projector - they're pretty cramped in there, so a small pump would be nice for e.g. keeping a quad red or blue cool. On another note, why did that video make me want to go to the bathroom LOL :P

    Review Lasever portable module 800mw

pretty darn impressive, and I'm not easily impressed by popping balloons and lighting matches. What happened about 30 seconds in? one of the balloons had to be removed? This was a fun video and bloody impressive for a handheld. Sounded like a chain of Chinese firecrackers going off. Rates right...

    Kiyoukan...

That was hilarious - and good choice of tune to go with it. I could just see ATC with the binocs going "what *IS* that?".. "Looks like a bloody mower". "Mower you are not cleared to land. This is an airport, not a soccer field!" ;)

New use for eBay HID batteries :)

I do this with one of those little ebay buck converters that are around $5 a piece. Basically you feed em a fixed voltage in one end, adjust the trimpot, and you get a fixed different voltage out the other. Works great on trips where 5v usb devices need a top up, such as our camping trips. We...

    The $6,000 Beam Expander Experiment

Thats the one - bloody SAM launcher. Seen with a camera attached, the camera looks like a dinky kids toy hanging off one of those :) My kit will consist of the following setup for my trip to honkers in january: Tokina 11-16 F2.8 Sigma 30mm F1.4 Sigma 17-50 F2.8 Sigma 70-200 F2.8 Oh, and a 60D...

    Why Gas?

Gas is nice, but nothing beats plugging a 5 watt solid state projector into a common household power point, and a laptop and pressing the go button. No 3 phase, no water loops, just plug it in and your ready to go. :D

Omg i pushed the new thread button!

Welcome to the forums. I'm also into RC models and since your housebound its not a lot of fun not being able to drive or fly (I do both cars and helicopters). Mabye you should get yourself a little heli to fly around the house, or a little plane, and learn the art of tailstanding or "hanging"...

    The $6,000 Beam Expander Experiment

I still cant get over some of the huge wide open lenses some pro photogs have. Some even need their own tripod (like trevors) if you fancy keeping them steady for more than a couple of seconds. The really big lenses I go "is that a camera lens or a rocket launcher" ;)

    another aircraft incident

Yep and pilots rely on colours outside to determine things like "which way is that other plane going off in the distance" and "am I high for the landing". Blocking out say green colours would render nav lights on other planes ineffective, as well as some of the visual aids on the ground used for...

    Cheap Safety Glasses - TESTED

Sensible. You only get one set of eyes. Lets look at it another way. I'm building a projector. Now besides being probably the most dangerous laser toy to be near with the top open and the lasers going, I'll be getting some of these for others nearby, but myself I'll get the more expensive ones...

    China laser show suppliers ???

yep but still illegal - the premises is still accepting payment for something (door charge, drinks), and that music and lights is included. You would still be in violation of the FDA rules. The US has some really strange (and strict) rules when it comes to laser projectors in a commercial...

    China laser show suppliers ???

Then that CASA is not for you as it would be illegal to operate in the US as it does not have an Accession number. You need both this and a variance to operate a laser display at any public event. Sure its fine if your just doing it at a friends party, but if you are making a profit using it...

    Why Gas?

hehe yep and a hene inverter will give you a good wallop too - it wont kill you, but it packs a good kick :) Like I mentioned before, an argon psu (especially a big one) will kill you, no second chances. And it can do this even after its been switched off if capacitor bleed resistors have gone...

    What's next after REKE500?

I second Winni. I got my projector case from goldenstar. The only thing I didnt like about the case was the thin baseplate (3mm? cmon!), but I picked up a 10mm thick one to suit for $25 locally. Home build if your handy with a soldering iron, have a drill press and a tap and die set (or just...

    pocket cannon

Nah they're not - a blow fly or "blowie" is just a big house fly. It cant bite or sting. Fiddy, what you probably got bitten by was a horse fly or sand fly. And they hurt a lot more than a damn mosquito, but arent as painful as say a european wasp sting.

    pocket cannon

The funny thing about a funnel webs venom is it wont affect your pet. If fido or meow gets bit, they'll be sick, but will recover from the bite. The component in the venom that is dangerous to humans (and other primates) is just a freak evolution. The spiders certainly don't go seeking out...

    pocket cannon

Fortunatly not very often. There have been two funnelwebs, one of which we could safely relocate a couple of hundred metres away, and the other one we blew up with the sparkler bomb. We've seen a few snakes (quite a few actually) but they never venture into the campsite, and plenty of goanna's...

    pocket cannon

12" 8" doesnt matter. Anyway yes you feel it even standing well back. We set them off with a battery, some cable and nichrome wire, or if he can get them the electric matches. Saves the danger of anyone running away, and tripping and being near the blast zone. We bury them up to the lift charge...
