You can get 3W from 9mm diode, if you are lucky. 5W from single diode laser is out of question .. at least today. And the host is too small and cheap to house dual laser. It's likely it would be around 1W.

Well depends on power .. my 400mW DPSS green has many additional modes .. I would go for 405nm or red .. I mean data recording diodes .. DVD or BRD, as they are designed to have perfect beams, unlike many DPSS lasers.

Re: 9mm 445nm "Blue Mysterio" You can also estimate power by battery current. The you can compare it with battery current of someone with same diode and driver .. it more or less scales in linear way. Sure, diodes can differ in tens of percent, but it should give you some idea.

If you want the beam to be visible, in thin air .. in bright lit room .. you will need high, not-safe power. But you can make the beam more visible by using smoke machine and dark room, or crystal which is not perfectly clear. Green is the best visible color. Powers up to 5mW are considered...
