Help on choosing laser 405nm or 445nm?

The 445 also seems more "durable". I have abused mine a couple of times by getting it hot or experimenting with it, the 445 is a tough little diode o_O

    max power

He is still trying to peddle his crap on the canadian airgun forums Canadian Airgun Forum - for sale-high powered lasers I probably shouldn't have been a prick but he kinda pissed me off.

Laser story with a happy ending

Lol, I stand corrected. Yeah, I thought this would be an interesting subject but no one saw it. Good to see another Canadian on here, surprisingly few of us considering the lack of laser laws ;)

Laser story with a happy ending

This is in a custom heatsing I designed a while back, it can be on indefinitely as long as you are holding it ;) They are very complicated to make though because everything is press fit and even the aixiz has to be turned down to get rid of the chrome (I feel that it is a thermal bottleneck)...

Built my First 445nm Laser But.....

Seems like an awful lot of waste voltage to dump. 2 lipos were always good enough for my lm317 builds (I only use lm350 now) With 12V you have to dump all of that extra voltage as heat.

Laser story with a happy ending

yeah, I popped the 18650 out with the help of a couple of dish rags asap. I do keep batteries in my lasers though, the lasers are usually stored in the gun safe unless I have it on me. Too many of my friends play with stuff I leave laying around.

Laser story with a happy ending

Well, the clicky has a recessed position so it is the first time but I must have lifted something with the corner against it. I was surprised how long it kept going actually, I figured the 18650 would have died long before that. Any pressure testing I have done on the heatsink was with it in my...

    Blowing diodes left and right

I have had issues with lava's drivers as well. His response was basically get another one... I (might have) found a replacement for the flexmod but nothing as compact as the flex v5 :(

Laser story with a happy ending

A few weeks ago I was helping my girlfriend move into the house I just built for her. As always, I had my (1.49A so probably around 1.3W) 445 in my pocket. Somewhere along the line I must have picked up something heavy enough to trigger the switch (I used a host that generally mitigates this...

Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits pens

Lol, whups! It's been a while since I was messing with lasers. I just got a big lathe and a medium milling machine so I have been playing with that ;)

    Green laser for a gun?

Depends what caliber you are planning to use it for. If it is for a pellet gun, get the cheapest one you can find. If it is for a shotgun, you will want to spend a lot. The recoil is the main determining factor, if it is made cheaply, it will bounce all over the place and might, as you say "get...

[FS] BULLETPROOF Laser Shades (US MILITARY ISSUE) For real

Just a thought here, they might be stopping more light than we give 'em credit for. On the wall the reflection just looks like splash... My 1.6W lights up the whole yard even when the dot isn't hitting/reflecting off anything. Not about to trust MY vision to crap glasses though, they don't look...

    Clarification on 445 requirements please

You're right, I must have been having a brain fart.... @budabob07 I can't seem to find a CC driver without voltage adjustment "CV" as well (at least not for $10) Last night I blew up one of these boards because I didn't watch close enough and the battery terminals on the old automotive battery I...

    Clarification on 445 requirements please

I hooked up to my (3A) dummy load and I don' seem to be getting any accurate readings... V out is 4.5V current out is .5A (directly through the DMM in 10A mode) but reading across the resistor of my dummy load I'm only getting something like 11mA o.O I know I'm doing something wrong but I don't...

    Clarification on 445 requirements please

@Cyparagon *Based specifically on what the red line on the graph says, the voltage requirement is ~2.5V. That is what seemed wrong to me. @GBD That is basically what I had "felt" was about right but I don't remember where I got the info for that hunch ;) *Also, what does *IIRC* mean? I can...
