    CNI PGL-III-C 589nm way overspec

From my experince these kinds of low efficiency DPSS lasers are usually this unstable due in part to lack of temp control among other things. Its actually pretty good because it doesnt show those extreme dips in power one often sees. the meter is pretty stable when testing with a LD.

I fixed the link to the video. sorry, didn't see it wasn't working until now.

    CNI PGL-III-C 589nm way overspec

There was a group buy with CNI some time ago. A member bought a 589nm 80mW from the group buy and ended up selling it to me shortly afterwards. The laser had some issues, a beam coming out on an angle, and the beam profile was smeared. I sent it back to CNI for repair. they replaced it and here...

*****SOLD***** One Watt 638nm Laser (Mfr. Blord) w/Batteries & Charger

Re: One Watt 638nm Laser (Mfr. Blord) w/Batteries & Charger $235 I have one of these and can attest to their performance and quality. the build appears first rate although I have not seen inside. but if blord does such a good job on the outside, i am sure its great on the inside. the laser...

FS: Rubicon 10W & 5W Laser Power Meters

Re: FS: Rubicon 5W Laser Power Meters Wow that really shows the limitations of a TEC based meter... direct DL tend to just drop smoothly in power as heat builds up, but DPSS lasers have more complex and transient responses so a TEC graph of a DPSS is usually just good for an average. but even...

    Anyone know TravisHall81?

Slander is verbal. Libel is written. and I don't think the OP qualifies for either. but yes, its best to know how this turned out so we know.

First build - blue laser pointer , fail

It's very tricky to build laser pointers out of flashligh-like hosts - so much can go wrong. so its important to do things step by step and make sure everything is good before moving to the next step. good solder connections and use of heat shrink tubing is important. ensuring that no bare wires...

µCurrent device for getting more accurate current readings

Jerry just made a simple typo. its hard to keep all the SI units organized in our heads. :) it allows more accurate measurement of nA (10^-9), µA (10^-6) and mA (10^-3). but the mA range is only up to +300mA.

µCurrent device for getting more accurate current readings

I thought he would have spec'ed out the mA range to be wider than it is. i should have checked that first. its only +/- 300mA. so that doesn't make it that useful to us. but its still a cool device.

All my lasers for sale....many good deals.

Agreed. 120 vs 107 is not much a difference at all. I think if you are going to use a TEC LPM you have to accept that its not going to be as accurate as an Ophir based LPM if they are both calibrated or close to calibrated. just like a hobbiest LPM is not going to be as accurate as a pro lab...

All my lasers for sale....many good deals.

I think it is more to do with inaccuracies between LPMs. I would take my readings as more accurate as my Ophir has been calibrated and matches my friends Coherent which has also been calibrated. Typically with these kinds of DPSS lasers, they have a band of temperature where they operate at...
