I don't think this is a new diode. We've known about the 2-3 die diodes for a bit now. I have the tribeam running at 2.6W iirc Edit: Scratch that, I cut it down to 1.8W

Gah! Eye damage is a tremendous fear of mine! Sorry for your friend and I hope that he heals well. My parents had a friend, when I was younger, that did this exact same thing. It's been a few years but he is still a better marksman than us so I feel like he healed just fine. Hopefully the same...

Re: new Sharp 495nm diode I haven't had time, and still don't currently, to search through the rest of this thread, but if anyone hasn't already pointed it out, the same seller has the 488nm diode for sale as well. $900, but at least it seems to be more easily accessible than before.
