GGW-H20L first time harvesting *image heavy*

I know this has been convered and the 6X diodes are "old news", but I'm excited and besides I took a few nice pics which someone might find useful. I really took my time harvesting the diodes from this sled, determined not to have any disasters. It's a nice sled, love the PBS cubes, dichros and...

HAHAHAHA! You fooled me, I thought you were serious about that being your "girl". She's more manly than a lot of men I know.:crackup:

    Introducing myself

Hey Ray, nice to meet you. We need a few more "old timers" on the forum, based on results of a recent, "how old are we" thread. Judging by your nick we have the same taste in books. :tinfoil: Tell us what lasers and laser components you have.

First Laser build and first red 22x LG dvd burner

Re: First Laser build and first red Good work with what you have at hand. Be careful driving it at 450mA! That's not exactly a safe current, looks like jayrob's copper module is giving you excellent heatsinking for it to survive that.

    Laser "reactive" target?

phototransistor would be an easy option I reckon, with a focusing lens infront of it depending on the size of the target you wanted. Like THIS

    Duration of afterimages?

If you look directly at the sun without eye protection how many mW of energy do you think your retina is assaulted with? I'd be curious to know... Answered my own question - according to wikipedia typical sunlight contains 120 watts of light energy per meter2. That's equates to 0.00012W/mm2...

Test-load torment - wth is going on!?

By-passed the switch and it's still behaving badly. I now suspect that 1ohm resistor... I drove the driver with 11.4v and got a linear increase through the range... I think this testload is dropping the voltage more than it should be and we're running out of steam... I'll buy some different 1ohm...

Test-load torment - wth is going on!?

I was up late last night building myself a nice little test-load. As you know it's pretty simple stuff, put it all together with a switch to flick between 6x IN4001s and 4x IN4001s. I've got a nice convenient socket to plug the multi-meter leads into and aligator clips for hooking it up to the...

Anyone grow anything in their garden?

I grow LOTS of herbs too. Don't have time to list them now. Netwave - sounds very interesting! I may pm you soon to find out more. We might be able to do some trading. :yh: Here's a pic of my current edible garden - Not a lot growing right now, too cold and gloomy here.

Anyone grow anything in their garden?

Love my vegetable garden and we grow lots of different veg in the spring/summer/autumn. The winter here is a bit tough, but we've got onions, chard, fennel, radishes, bok choy, broccoli, celeriac, leeks and some broad beans going at the moment. Oh and a few peas in too, but not doing much at the...

    o-like dichros - good deal?

Thanks AAlasers, I think I will grab a set and I'll write a bit more of a review when they arrive. However, not having a LPM it's hard to accurately assess these things. I can discuss the beam fidelity after passing through the dichros and estimate the losses; I'll do my best.

    o-like dichros - good deal?

I noticed this set of 2 dichroic filters on o-like's website, only $29 for the pair. Anyone know if these are a quality product? I can't find them for anywhere near this price on other sites. RGB combining system I'm planning to start building my scanner with these, getting the optics together...
