Oh, that's funny, you don't buy anything that was made in china or that someone or something had to get hurt or killed to produce? Then I imagine you don't drive, eat, use the internet, or live in a house. Oh wait. Again, don't be a blatant hypocrite by saying that greed is bad when your entire...

    Hadron Collider

Interesting.... well, the joke was that it was a "large hardon collider", colliding two very large hardons. Hence the NSFW.

    It works just fine.

Wrong. While some of those things may be illegal/regulated in the US, that doesn't mean that our greed as a society won't cause us to outsource to china, africa, etc where those things are not illegal/regulated just to get cheaper products. Chances are that any non-artificial diamonds you've...

:na: Explain. How is killing off animals, destroying the environment, poisoning people to mine lithium, blowing up mountains to get coal, razing forests for fuel and production centers, etc. not greedy?

LOL Also, I have to disagree that greed is only a bad thing. We wouldn't be anywhere without greed. Isn't it greedy to want electricity, cars, and modern civilization?

Any ham radio operators on LPF?

wow... I'm not in to ham, but at that price I'm tempted to get one just to have.... :undecided: I wish that it could be modded to TX on 88-108mhz, but someone in the comments said that it couldn't support that high audio bandwidth.

    What lights do you have?

A cool tint does not actually have much more blue light in it. Both cool and warm whites have a peak somewhere around 460nm, and at the same number of lumens they will both emit basically an equivalent amount of blue light (the neutral white a bit less). The only difference is that cool white...

    What lights do you have?

Good point. Warm tints are typically not as efficient as the latest cool tints.

FLASHLIGHT vs LASER stranded on an island

A 5mW red laser is not useful in ANY survival scenario :na: Also, a quark on a single alkaline has passed 17 straight days of runtime earlier today. Neither a 405 nor 445 has any hope whatsoever of signaling a plane at any altitude above a few thousand feet (I doubt there are any low-flying...

FLASHLIGHT vs LASER stranded on an island

OK, yet another reason to use a flashlight-A single AA quark light on moon mode has passed 15 days (360 hours) with a single alkaline. Efficiency increases with voltage, so it will be well over 2x as long with 2 alkaline batteries. Lithium is still being tested. Let's see a laser run for 360...

    What lights do you have?

Most people like warm tints better... the only time I've heard of a cool beam being better is when working inside a computer case. I have a 2xCR2032 that came free from lighthound (all orders include them I think) and it is actually VERY bright for the size. Probably 5 or 10 lumens. Trust me...

I-city Shah Alam = tons of LEDs!

As FML said, they're more stable now. Nichia has been working hard, not just on laser diodes ;)

    Attention all Americans

Having lived all over the US, I think that the general consensus is that the worst tourists in this country are us texans and, apparently, upper class russians. When I lived in idaho in a ski resort town, it was well known that the russian visitors we got were not always very good tourists. I...
