Ultraviolet handheld laser - what is the status in 2024

I picked up the 380nm laser for photography as well. I have a full spectrum converted Nikon D850, and I use it with a Baader U Venus filter for UV photos. UV photos are harder than visible or infrared photos. The problem is unless you buy specialty lenses approaching $10,000 what is in focus...

    200mW 375nm UV Build

yeah I have a Sanwu Pocket 405nm at 500 mW and its not enough. If I went the wall plug-in route Id be carrying around a battery bank in my backpack.. The graph shows what my UV filter will transmit. Sounds like its DIY it is then. You have a really cool build. Im surprised its dim violet as id...

    200mW 375nm UV Build

Ive been wanting one of these for years now to help focus a UV camera in low light on things far away. Are lasers like this (200mw @ 375nm) still only in the realm of DIY?

    Ultraviolet Lasers?

well, Id go lower, but as far as going higher, it would defeat the entire point to use visible (or near visible) light. I tried using my 500mw 405nm laser, no good

    Ultraviolet Lasers?

Example, all 3 shots from the same place. Mt Adams as seen from Mt Rainier (WA) Visible: Infrared: Ultraviolet:

    Ultraviolet Lasers?

yeah UV from an electrical arc is effectively emitted isotropically (like an expanding sphere) so it would take a massive amount of power, Id probably get arc flash burns. Combine that with the fact that UV scatters much easier than visible or IR.. The best I could find was a Wildfire system -...

    Ultraviolet Lasers?

Here's where I tested the 500mw 405nm laser. I put the beam square on the daisy closest to it: The full spectrum camera seen in the above picture was maybe 4-5 feet from the flower. Here's the pic it took: Then I turn on my filtered 365nm flashlight and get this:

    Ultraviolet Lasers?

Thank you for all the responses, appreciated. I already have a 500mw 405nm laser, and it is not suitable, not even close. I definitely want 375nm - 240nm. Nothing lower as 240nm starts generating ozone gas. I want to keep this project relatively sane; Im comfortable with lasers and ultraviolet...

    Ultraviolet Lasers?

As of 2020, is there anything useful I'm missing here with respect to small UV lasers? So far the only thing Ive seen on a small UV laser is that they are uncommon and the only diode is super expensive ($4,758 USD for a 375nm 70mW at Thorlabs). I also saw a YouTube video of a guy who scavenged...

    SKY-Lasers still open for business?

Hi. Does anyone know if SKY-Lasers is still open for business? I'm having a hard time finding decent quality 808nm and 980nm lasers. (Experienced with > 5mw lasers, own a couple goggles to cover a range of wavelengths) Tried to purchase a 300mw/250mw set from them, no confirmation email or...
