    Good call! Thanks a lot!

    18650 or 2x 16340 batteries

That's good news, because I did notice a performance increase. Thanks!

    18650 or 2x 16340 batteries

The device came with 2x 3.6V cells, but the 18350s I got from the States today are 3.7V and they seem to fit more snugly in the chassis. Could it be that the device shipped with slightly underpowered batteries? And more importantly, if 3.6 is spec, could a mere extra 0.2V cause damage?

Blue balloons resistant against blue laser

Yup. Buying that instead. *5* Shanahan.

Blue balloons resistant against blue laser

Hehe, Shorty, thanks for posting the second longest reply in this "wasted thread". But seriously, I can buy the self-sealing bit, so thanks for that.

Blue balloons resistant against blue laser

Grrr, I'm having trouble with purple balloons too! So, I pointed the laser at the very top of the balloon where the material is at its thickest and something interesting happened... It quickly burnt a tiny hole, but cauterized the tear, causing the balloon to deflate gradually rather than pop...

Blue balloons resistant against blue laser

@Blord: I guess mine isn't as 1000mW as it makes out to be. (A proper 1000mW should be able to ignite steel wool at point blank range, right?) It actually gives only one "rating" on the device itself, but I won't repeat it here for fear of making my name ass.

Blue balloons resistant against blue laser

Thanks, that makes sense. I'll time with some different colours at different distances and report back.

Blue balloons resistant against blue laser

It does. It pops all other cloured balloons instantly and lights my smoke if my Zippo quits. Youtube "Balloon death row - custom 1100mw blue laser." I'm not the only one...

    445nm don't like blue balloons!

I had the same issue - you may want to follow the thread if there are any answers: http://laserpointerforums.com/f42/blue-balloons-resistant-against-blue-laser-74771.html#post1079990

Blue balloons resistant against blue laser

Hi, I've been doing some experiments with range popping of balloons with a 1000mW 450nm blue and I've found blue balloons to be highly resistant, even at close range. This has been consistent, too. One of them took 37 SECONDS to pop! Does this hold for lasers of different colous (ie, red...

    18650 or 2x 16340 batteries

Thanks, you've helped me a lot. I'm so taken with laser technology, I'm already eyeing a 150mW green now. Bug seems to have bitten me, d'oh!

    18650 or 2x 16340 batteries

@Infinitus: Thanks, I will definitely explore the 2x 18350 avenue. In the mean time, 1x 18650 sounds like a nice standby if I don't need maximum power. (The unit doesn't come with adjustable output.) It's a serious No Name Brand Chinese one, which is all that I could get in South Africa. Come...

    18650 or 2x 16340 batteries

Hi, My 1W blue came with two feeble 880 mAh 3.6V 16340 batteries and other manufacturers don't seem to go much higher than that mAh rating. I'm wondering if it's possible to swap the two 16340's for a single 18650, which has a higher mAh rating. My concern is that they're inserted end on end...
