I've just finished my 445nm Build in a Survival Laser "S4" host, and It's absolutely fantastic. It's my first "Higher power" build, and i'm really happy with how it turned out.
Here's the diode itself. It's an M140 diode from DTR's store, and damn, he ships these fast. Was the first part to...
VERY nice beamshots. That's with 2x 16340's I assume? Not bad at all, makes me even more okay with my splurge to get the 16340's as well as the 18650's. Mine will almost certainly run a little bit less time on the smaller cells, though, as I -am- pumping 1.5 amps to the diode.
He's talking about the drivers that are available from Survival Laser International Home or Survival Laser USA Home. they are round and fit exactly in the host pills they provide.
I did order from DTR. He shipped SUPERfast, but I didn't realize at the time that the one that was 11 bucks more also -would fit- into the Survival heatsink as well as being pre-soldered.
Will be ordering from DTR again. Great shipping, and managed to get it in before labor day so it arrived...
I definitely did order the battery extension tube along with the 1.4 host bundle. I actually ordered the host bundle and opted for the (cooler looking, IMO) S4 body and the nickel plated brass diode module (which I now might regret getting instead of the copper, as this is a pretty high-end...
Hey, I'm really interested in the 405nm 500mw laser I hear you build for $110.
question, are they 18650 cell powered? if so, I'm likely going to put in an order for two of them when I get paid on Thursday!
