ONGOING: Big Boy 3x18650 Host $30

Just got my host. Was shipped on the 22nd. It does seem a bit smaller than I expected but I'm not sure my expectations were entirely rational. Feels heavy though. The host without batteries feels like it weighs the same as my 2x18650 flashlight with batteries installed.

    large 5mm x 6" tritium tube

Is it fragile at that length?

    Can someone PLEASE check schematic

Wait, the OP wasn't a troll?!

ONGOING: Big Boy 3x18650 Host $30

Looks like I'm late to the party!! Anyway put me down for a heatsink and black host. I'm going to go ahead and place an order off fancy flashlights now :D

My LM3410x based Boost converters: Spark driver! PART 1

I've had no trouble getting over 1A in boost. I left sepic for the lower currents of red and some IR diodes.

My LM3410x based Boost converters: Spark driver! PART 1

Bear in mind that the design example they give is for 350mA. The coupling and output capsneed to be higher for your uses.

My awesome fun with a 445 (sarcasm)

Surprising to hear. These things are tough! Early on in the life of my 445, I shorted across the FB resistor of the boost driver while trying to measure the feedback voltage. My slip killed the driver and the 445 survived without a hitch and has had many flawless hours of use now o.0

My LM3410x based Boost converters: Spark driver! PART 1

Wait why are you reducing the value of C3 from 10uf to 1uf. And try to put more capacitance for the output as it supplies power AND filters the output. If that doesn't work you could always try laying multiple caps in parallel to get your desired value. I'm not sure if that made a difference for...

    FS:Host With custom Aluminium HS

So you have the pill drilled out ready for an aixiz? I'm interested as I've got a 445 in a chunky heatsink in need of a real host. And it would be convenient buying from another aussie.

My LM3410x based Boost converters: Spark driver! PART 1

Dang I was thinking your IC was funky, but its alive and kicking. I wouldn't worry about the cap. X5R and X7R can handle quite massive currents through their little bodies. I believe its typically over 10A. You mentioned it was 2200nf. Try a diff cap in case its 2200pf or something silly like that

My LM3410x based Boost converters: Spark driver! PART 1

Are you certain that your test with the sepic didn't damage the IC? a I've found that when it doesnt turn on, theres a decent chance ive killed it (aside from reverse battery). Measure the FB voltage in boost mode to check on its regulation. Don't worry too much about your selection of...

My LM3410x based Boost converters: Spark driver! PART 1

2.2uf should be fine for C3 (thats your coupling capacitor right?) im looking at your sepic board you posted up. Is it just me or do BOTH inductors have a connection to pin 1 (switch pin). Might just be the small size playing tricks on my eyes. Should be fine since it worked for boost and the...

My LM3410x based Boost converters: Spark driver! PART 1

PCB design which is not optimal shouldn't cause it to blow. It will affect efficiency and regulation though. Just make sure you read the datasheet through and through so you dont misinerpret the layout. If you blew a capacitor, was it a tantalum on reverse polarity? BTW, I found that in...

    445nm bad diode?

I've used pure acetone without any ill effects. In fact, i immersed the diode in there for several hours because the crud was quite stubborn (probably got melted on the window)
