    Polyboost driver

More things that Polyboost is not: - Compatible with illuminated tail switches, they get crazy! Had to change plans and identify the RGB collection with colored buttons. - Suitable for common cathode setups, it only work with LS current sensing. I’ll need to work on a variation with HS current...

    Polyboost driver

My multi-beam RGB collection is complete, all of them using Polyboost driver (: More details on the individual posts. Blue Penta-beam: https://laserpointerforums.com/threads/blue-penta-beam-pointer.112067 Red Octa-beam...

    Triple Green Pointer

Build and beam shots. Collimating this one with an D20mm FL15mm lens. Polyboost is pushing 1.3A and I think ~13.5v here.

    Triple Green Pointer

The Numb12t is composed of 2 submodules: - 4x2 reds (used on the octa-beam) - 3x 525nm + 2x 465nm I decided to use the second half on this project with the blues dormant to create a pure green multi-beam. I was not that excited with just 3 beams and was also expecting the greenies to be the...

    Is it an Octa-beam? Or a Quad-dual-beam?

Three peaks as expected for this red array, a little bit higher than on the spec: 641nm, 645nm and 649nm (2A and probably hot) One of them looks a little more pinkish and dimmer, all other are almost the same to my eyes.

    Blue Penta-beam pointer

Not much variation on WL between diodes with one peak at 454nm (500ma)

    Is it an Octa-beam? Or a Quad-dual-beam?

    Some build and beam shots

    Is it an Octa-beam? Or a Quad-dual-beam?

Of course I would not stop on the Blue Penta-beam after all the effort put into Polyboost! My Numb12t arrived and the reds beams look really awesome behind a long FL lens (: But lots of artifacts to try cleaning out… Stay tuned for the build.

Getting some more ready for the next projects :)

    Blue Penta-beam pointer

Already landed on this thread a couple of times!! Pretty cool! For sure it helped with the inspiration over the years!

    Polyboost driver

I was able to use the same hot plate I use for reflowing the driver boards and led emitters on mcpcb’s. I just transferred the module from the original board and dropped on an already pasted 20mm copper star board for 9090 leds. Then it went to the hot plate again, centralized by eye and let it...

    Blue Penta-beam pointer

Still looking for a better lens, any suggestions anyone? The size that fits on the body is 40mm/36mm (with and without “collar”) and ~22mm FL. Edit: The masks I made in 10mm to 28mm size do work as adapters! This means that any lens on that size range with a “tab” and FL up to 22/23mm would...

    Blue Penta-beam pointer

Close ups of the module being driven at lowest level I could get with Polyboost (in theory something <1% of 1A) I’m still amazed with the size of this thing! The diodes have only 1mm offset and are deflected by tiny little mirrors. All observable with a nice magnifying glass in front (:

    Blue Penta-beam pointer

Last year I lost my hopes on getting a GH04C06X9G for a multi-beam blue pointer, so I began looking for a multi-diode solution. After seeing how close the new Qualas modules have the diodes mounted, I decided to try focusing all of them with a single big long FL lens (: So I got a Nubb38t with...
