    260W IR Laser pump handheld?

Good luck with the project, something I've considered before but not gotten around to! The IPGs look like good options for a handheld, since they weigh less and apparently have a higher efficiency ratio than some of the Chinese brands - they seem to be going for a decent price recently as...

Good feedback, thanks. Here are the bits that come with it: I ended up buying these bits, I think I'm slowly starting to understand what each kind of insert is for: What I'm still working on figuring out is how to get everything aligned, I'm sure this is an issue from what I'm seeing...

IPG Fiber Laser Module (YLM-900) For Quick Sale

I recently bought a fiber laser module off of eBay, and I didn't realise the strict export controls on high power lasers going out of the USA. It's been really challenging to find a way to get them exported out of the USA. So rather than continue to try and find a way to get it out, I'm...

Thanks! What are these two used for? Being able to hold the round insert holders? I've seen a lot of these inserts around, is this a common type of insert that's easy to get or used commonly?

In was wondering about this, I have seen this in a lot of videos I believe. How and when is the best time to do this? Is it basically measurements the tolerance/variance from a certain point? When trying my first use of the lathe (with copper, I know not the best to start with - but it's the...

Yeah assuming I'm being careful with the carbide inserts they should like a much quicker / less painful approach. I'd rather spend a bit more on them and save time on not needing to sharpen. There are a lot of insert options, so trying to navigate the ins and out and which ones to use

My lathe arrived a few days ago, looks like I got these two insert holders / inserts. I'm thinking about getting carbide inserts so I don't have to worry about sharpening, does that sound like a good idea and will work? Any suggestions on what to use as initial insert holders, or these two good...

    520nm laser color

Just found this, really useful. The 1.6w green is equivalent to something like 20w of 445nm blue. Originally I was going to do a NUBM44 445nm as first custom build - but definitely the right move going to the lower power and higher brightness NUGM06!

What happened to the relative beam brightness calculator.

This is awesome, thanks for sharing!

Good to know re copper, I wasn't aware of that! I suspect I'll end up mostly working with aluminium, and copper and steel now and then. It cost about US$275 (local domestic market in China), but would probably sell in the US for a little more - probably another $100 on top of that if it were...

    520nm laser color

I just bought a lathe, so thinking to wait till that arrives to do a proper heatsink. I can modify my heatsink before that to fit with the cheap mini rotary tool I have - but it's not great. And I still need to figure out the driver bit, I bought the drivers on Taobao (like Amazon but in...

I haven't had any experience with a lathe before, but after seeing a few posts from members here showing what they had some with theirs I did a bit of research and decided to try one. Will start our with doing a heatsink and then eventually might tackle doing a host. I have a Bambu X1C which is...

    520nm laser color

Yeah I think it will turn out well. I believe it's a 21700

    520nm laser color

I've got a Convoy M21F in frosted white, and a make shift heatsink. Final piece is figuring out which LD to go with, I got a few, but none seem like exactly the right option.

Just got these IR dump diodes

That is good to know, that's definitely worth trying. Is it just a standard/any microscope slide or does it need to be a specific kind? What happens to the remaining 92% of the light? Is it reflected, or will the slide heat up? Assuming not the second as I would imagine the slide wouldn't last...
