I'm planning to build another 445nm laser soon, and I'm thinking I'll give it multiple power modes. I was thinking I could use a flashlight lens as a lens cap at the lower powers and have the laser double as a flashlight.
Would there be any way I could change the blue light to white light by...
@dragon - Good thing I skipped the gold-plating, then! ;-) I'm glad to hear you're happy with it! I might be building some more of these in the future.
@Spyrius - I simply used the cylindrical stop from an aluminum ferrule and stop set from Home Depot. The outer diameter was already perfect...
Thanks! Gotta love Homestar.
Yeah, I really like the compact size and design of the build. The "spikes" at the tip actually help prevent accidentally turning of the lens when this is in a pocket, so that's a nice little bonus. It has a glow-in-the-dark tailcap, too.
I've got a nice compact laser build here. It's got a custom aluminum heatsink and runs off an included AA+ size Tenergy rechargeable li-ion.
I have the Micro BoostDrive set to 130mA. This, along with the 405-G-1 lens, give this a nice amount of burning power!
The fit and finish is very nice...
I'm not sure yet. I've contacted one of the forum members to see if he's interested in making heatsinks to go along with these. If I had a lathe of my own, I'd make them myself. :)
You're on the list! Just to make sure you know, these are 2x CR123A hosts, not CR2. Let me know if this changes...
All right, I just heard back from my supplier. He says that these hosts consist of the flashlight bodies without the light components. These have the tailswitch, but pretty much nothing else.
As far as the price goes, it's looking more like $6-$8 each, maybe less. We need at least 100 orders...
Hey, I just noticed that you're from St. Louis! I live right across the river in the Belleville area. You ought to add yourself to the member map here: Member Map
