Thanks for the reply!
I've placed the order for the charger. Its from a authorized distributor, so I'm fairly confident that I will receive a genuine product. The battery on the other hand I'm buying from ebay. Based on the seller's rating and number of people who are happy with their purchase...
Hi Everyone! Thanks for reading.
Currently I have a cheap ebay type laser that take 3.7V 18650 batteries. I'm planning on building a "real" laser in the future that will accept 18650 batteries. I want to purchase decent batteries now in the hopes that they will serve me well in multiple future...
So I was looking over the pins for soldering and I noticed that if I orient my diode so that the two LD pins touch the top of the driver and the case pin touches the bottom of the driver the LD+ contacts the LD- of the board. This is the opposite of what I want right? A little guidance would be...
Wow it all made sense once you said that! Thanks.
Update:
I've received my diode and driver from china finally. Before I jump in and assemble it I realized there is something important that I neglected to think about.
Does my driver have a potentiometer? I had assumed it was that philps head...
I was just thinking about the wiring of the case pin again and I wanted to get clarification. If I plan to make contact with the case through the heatsink I should solder the case pin to the driver. Correct? Also, If I do this I don't need to use the "Power +VE" on the driver to connect the case...
Thanks for the help!
1) With the presses, I need a 3.8mm right now. In the future a lot of the diodes I've been looking at are 5.6mm. Is that a more common size? There is also a 9mm press. Which ones do I really need?
2) Got it, won't use it!
3) The laser I bought on ebay used the case pin...
Thanks for all the great information! I have already placed the order for the diode and driver and I'll be waiting a few weeks for parts. Just a couple of questions in the mean time.
1) How important is having a diode press? Can I get by not having one for just this build? Is there a good way...
Wow thanks for the info! Would you also be able recommend a 200+ mA driver that is ~10.5mm x ~17.0mm? I don't need the best driver in the world just something to "cut my teeth" on. I need some practice before I build my "real" laser!
Thanks,
Frozen
Thanks for the response! I think I'm begining to understand why this won't work. I found another diode with a high working current.
Diode: Link
What do you think? Also what is mean by "sealed"
Thanks,

Hi Guys! Thanks for the replies!
I should clarify a little bit first. I want to build something cheap that would work so I can practice and learn before I invest in a "real" laser.
You guys are saying that the diode and driver won't work and I appreciate that information. Do you mind...
Hi Everyone!
I bought a cheap laser from ebay and I reversed the battery and it died. I want to replace the diode and driver and use the same host (Laser 301 Body), Battery (3.7 V), and heatsink (38mm diode) to get this laser working again.
On ebay I found these two items:
Diode
Driver
Will...
I still want to try my hand at make a laser with this host first. Below I linked to a diode and driver that i found on ebay. I'm hoping to solder it myself and use the heatsink pictured above.
Will these two work together?
Diode
Driver
Thanks!

Hi Everyone!
A while back a purchased a cheap 405nm handheld laser on ebay. The laser it self was not too powerful but the host was much to my liking (Laser 301 body). Long story short, I accidentally put the 3.7V battery in reverse and quickly learned that this driver did not have RP...
