Alaskan,
If you can provide adequate test data on the pair, I would mount them directly to the copper slugs in my J20 hosts, use the largest copper piece I have, knife edge them, then combine them with a PBS NUBM44 v2 output, or just dichro mirror them with the 450nm 7W output, and get...
For sake of simplicity, let's talk about 1 diode. I understand that 2 cylindrical lenses are required as it's essentially 2 individually emitted beams which need correcting, but I'm trying to visualize where you would place any common-size cylindrical lenses in your proposed arrangement. Could...
I noticed people talking about the xxxxxG84 638nm, then saw them talking about 3W of pulsed 638nm coming next like it was (exciting). Stumbled on this and thought I was bringing something special or new to the table on that notion. Whoops! Pardon me.
I hadn't realized they arrange these as...
Searched forum, no mention of this diode yet--which surprised me. It is not a triple beam, rather a double diode/beam multi-mode in 9mm package made by Ushio.
Here is the spec sheet PDF link from Ushio:

Enjoy :)
I maybe wandered outside of the topic discussion a bit in that I was attempting to compare a broader region of colors such as 405nm to 520nm, or etc. There are two questions that I find generate different results or different consequential handicaps that are often assumed of end-spectrum color...
No one should have to ask if there is a difference between seeing two different wavelengths in the visible region--common sense should dictate that. I won't look down upon any question which inspires further thought and generates better discussion, however. ;)
To add even more confusion to this...
Thanks a lot guys. You made me realize, I should not read right before bed on some late nights. I surely sat there looking at Light Superglue's photo for some minutes like this:
Starting off in the 405nm forum I had presumptions, and upon seeing "BDR-209" a few times, I jumped the...
On a side note to your testing you could use a webcam connected to a laptop. Then you could remote into the laptop from your Android and view the webcam image on the screen. I don't know which method you'd find easier for your scenario but it's another thought.
I honestly was not aware that 4...
I can help.
Instead of using words like "small", if you simply specify the requirements using a measurement system, we could turn this into physical understanding using the math. That should be straightforward.
I.E. Maximum spot size at target = <0.25mm ⌀
You cannot make an image projection...
Bingo...
Number 2!!!
It's a more common mistake than you would think, and happens to the best of us. I was originally warned of it from a member here about 6 years ago, but sometimes I can forget things.
I've blown a 405nm 12X on a $400 lab supply once. Trust me, the price of the supply...
OK here's what I'm trying to allude to:
Scale.
I don't offhand know the specs of the G2 lens (it's simply the only small lens I use regularly). But let me make up some phony specs to convey my idea; say that the G2 has a 4mmFL, and it's diameter is 6.5mm. Taking a step back, the raw output of...
Ahh ok, I see what you are saying, I think.
You're saying that while technically a 3X longer focal length than a G2 with same NA as a G2 will produce a beam 3X larger with 3X less divergence than a G2 alone, it's the fact that the corrective optics could not be as small since the beam would be...
I've always been on the same "deal" you are on with expansion leading to higher burning potential at further distances with the higher diverging multi-modes, but that thought brings up an interesting question I have RedCowboy.
Instead of expanding, which takes a lot more room and mounting...
Depends, I have these diodes but decanned, but with a little info this is simple to figure out. Is the G-ball lens set at its focal point for infinite focus?
If the g-ball is set at its focal point, then no, you can't put another lens in front of it. Simply because you need focal length to work...
