The black wires were wrapped in electrical tape, and by pressing a button, the laser would flash to life. For a child, this was fantastically high tech and sophistocated. But beyond the class was the enchanting color and detail behind the red beam. Waving the laser around left a serpentine trail that felt like painting on the walls.
