oh i thought you ment a power supply., a test bench.
i do have a work area for testing it on.
i'm not sure about the current. it should still be drawing 1700mA
i just stopped using the ttl.
and to protect my motherboard i used a mosfet.
i think the ttl just doesn't work propperly...
ok so an update.
if you unplug the ttl port the laser is just always on at full strenght.
so instead of using the onboard ttl. i tried an external mosfet.
and it works. i can control the laser's intensity. and even dim it to a point that i could focus without using the glasses. (less...
bench? XD sorry i am not that fortunate. also my multimeter is broken. i cannot measure amps. (i can check the wattage on the watt meter. and calculate it though.) it's supposed to be 1700mA
the trimpot is still on there and the screw to adjust it is fixed with some red glue or...
hey. good afternoon.
i bought this laser module https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/1-6-W-445nm-Blauw-Violet-Licht-Laser-Module-Graveur-Accessoire-voor-CNC-Laser-Carving-Graveermachine/32976516190.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.75de4c4dyHjdyg
wich arrived yesterday.
i wired it up like this
so the 12v...
soo. i have been searching google but can't find anything.
why do dvd lasers have this line pattern? (this is a glass cover over the laser)
the laser eventually gets colimated into a dot small enoegh for the the engravings on the cd so why bother with the pattern?
i cannot find him on ebay. (searched by seller name and regular) (when ever i find russia warehouses on bangood btw they never ship to the netherlands)
they do make diodes like this but in a diffrent form factor...
yeah i don't know what laser driver to get or where to get it. i live in a country where laserpointers are about as illegal as a gun. (netherlands)
so other then 5mw lasers or disco lightshow equipment. i can't get anything related to lasers.
so anything i can order will be atleast 2 weeks...
well the verry first diode i blew by accidentilly shorting out a cap when i was using a multimeter.
second one i only thought i destroyed with soldering. but apparantly i mishandled a wire and broke it. wich again shorted something out when i fired it up.
this last laser diode also died...
i also have a red laser engraver so a green one might be a better all rounder. but i think i am better off buying a red and a blue one.
though i did find a seller where i can buy 5 green ones for 12 dollars. would give me a chance to atleast do a destructive test.
or would you say...
ok. i ended up grabbing another colemating lens and adding it in curved side up. now the focal point is about 20mm away from the laser. this is much easyer to workk with
backstory
ok so recently i posted some questions about my homemade mini laser engraver. (it worked awesomely btw)
but it was too small for my taste so i wanted to put the laser on my 3d printer and see how it performed.
well i broke a wire on the laser driver so i had to solder that. (i...
ok so i need to get eagle pair to protect me from my (just ordered) 1.6w 445nm laser.
but currently i can't afford those.
what is the next best thing? it's going into an engraver and all i need goggles for is focussing the dot on reduced power.
during engraving it will be enclosed...
well i have a lens now. and i am happy. (i need a better power supply though. currently the entire machine is running off of a 12v 600mA universal adapter.
you can hear the fans fight for power with the laser. (fans slow down when laser is on)
i am using inkscape for the g-code. (the...
no havent made a lens setup yet. got a 5mw module that's adjustable in the mail today. currently contemplating using that setup for focussing instead of making my own colemating lens with the lenses from a dvd drive and a 3d printer.
what do you mean pwming the diode itself and not the input to the driver?
the whole point of the driver was to protect the laser from the pwm as far as i know.
those are the results i get from a circuit simulator (because my multimeter is broken) results from me specifying probe points when...
